Epcot to MGM

After having an early dinner at Japan, we want to head over to MGM for Fantasmic. Is there a boat that goes there from the International Gateway or do we need to take a bus?

You can take the boat from the IG exit although it will stop at BWV and BC first. I don't think there are any busses that go direct from park to park. You'd have to take a bus to a resort and then to MGM.

The boat will take you close to an hour. If you hop on the boat at IG, then it goes to BW, BC , and then Swan/Dolphin. Then it goes to MGM.

You may be able to walk it,briskly, in about 30 minutes.

If everything goes perfectly,you get on the boat just as it is leaving IG, not many people on it getting on and off, you may be able to do it in 35-40 minutes. I have always found it to be a looooooooooong trip.

That said, it is still faster than any other way on Disney transport.

Leave plenty of time. When you get into MGM, it will take you another long walk to get to the show. So lets add this walking up. From Japan to IG,a good 5-10 minutes, take the boat 35-60 minutes , the boat to Fantasmic, at least 10 minutes.

If you could do Fantasmic the same day you go to MGM and do a dinner there you would get the dinner seating in Fantasmic. A much more leasurely (? sp) pace.

We took the bus directly from EPCOT to MGM on our last trip and it was relatively quick. The problem in your case is that you would have to walk through FW and out the main gate to get to the bus; this is a pretty long walk from Japan.

It's about a mile and a quarter from gate to gate. A "brisk" walk would get you there in 20-25 minutes, 30 minutes would be more leisurely. (I can do it in 15, and I'm an old man!) Walking to front gate and taking a bus would probably take no longer than 30 minutes.
