We are planning on hopping from our dinner reservations at Epcot to Magic Kindom for EMH. We are driving so we had planned on parking at the TTC before dinner and taking the monorail to Epcot and then reverse it afterwards...Epcot to TTC and then TTC to MK. Will this work? How long do I need to plan for travel between Epcot to MK doing it this way?

TIA, Melissa

1. ill this work?

2. How long do I need to plan for travel between Epcot to MK doing it this way?

1. Yes.
2. General "ballpark" figures.
MK to Epcot, 15-25 Min.
Epcot to MK, 30-45 Min.

Your plan matches what I would do in the same situation. We like to have our vehicle at the park at which we end our day. Going to EPCOT from the TTC should take about 20 minutes given that you only need to ride one monorail. Going from EPCOT to MK will add at least 10 minutes to that due to the transfer at TTC.

Personally, I allow an hour (at minimum) to get from one park location to another, depending on the size of the crowds. I think most people underestimate their travel time because they only think about the time for the actual monorail ride - they forget the time it takes to get to the boarding platform from wherever they are in the park, and they forget about the time it takes to walk to the destination after getting off the monorail. Most of the time I'm early... but I'd rather be 10-15 minutes early, than be 5 minutes late. :)

***Edited to add: Nevermind, please disregard! I was thinking backwards (trying to get from MK *to* EP for ADR)... need more coffee, STAT!!! LOL

Epcot to MK (after IllumiNations,) 30-45 Min.

Thanks Robo! If I'm leaving Epcot before Illuminations (we are doing this another night in our trip) will it still take 30-45min? It will be around 7:00 when we leave.

I've already dropped the IllumiNations reference in my first post.

I agree that the estimate of 20-35 minutes is a good ballpark figure.

Monorail is the best method of transportation at Disney for the mono resorts and MK to EPCOT. I use it whenever I can vs the buses or boats

Thank you! My husband is absolutely a bus snob so we drive when we can. He will ride the monorail only because it's needed. I'm still waiting to tell him that we may have to ride the bus on one of our pre-park opening ADR's at MK. He's not going to be a happy camper :scared:

Thanks everyone for your help. I think I will budget around 45 minutes just to be safe. :thanks:

The buses aren't awful. However, it's no fun waiting at a park for a bus when you're exhausted and hot. I'd say the maximum I've waited is 15 minutes so it isn't terrible.

Buses are the worst at night and early morning when everyone is entering or leaving. Sometimes you might even have to stand. However, there have been times I rode a bus solo or with only 2-3 people on it.

That could be the case with monorails too though....
