Epcot Segway Tour cancelled - all of them

Hmm... guess I should call tomorrow. I booked this for 4/24 for DD and her Husband to be by then for their honeymoon.... haven't received a phone call yet. I let IPO book it for me though, so I wonder if IPO even knows it's cancelled. I'll call tomorrow and confirm because I'm sure it is

Darn!
I had booked this for a get away weekend for myself to visit my snow-birding parents. It was going to be a way to celebrate my birthday.
What is even more frustrating is that I have not been contacted (and to my knowledge not been refunded, though I haven't checked the CC statement online yet) and when I called DVC (through whom I booked) they told me to call the tours number. Each time I have called teh tours number (three times so far) it has stated that the wait time would be over 30 minutes and I just can't be on the phone for that long!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

My April 23rd date was canceled last week. The person I spoke with said everything up through May 1 was canceled. They would evaluate the situation as time went on. She would not elaborate what the situation was.

Is your trip after May 1? If it is it hasn't been officially canceled yet.

weird and frustrating...
called about my march 24 reservation as I had not been contacted nor refunded yet and was told they would contact me if they had to cancel but as of now I was still booked. she also said that they *should* cancel prior to two weeks before which would be this sunday. now I am just waiting to get my cancelation call...

According to the All Ears website, ALL Segway tours for 2013 are cancelled.

Maybe someone got seriously hurt and they are being sued. Too bad, I have never been on one but they look fun and I would have considered doing this for our upcoming December trip.

Based on the reports on this thread, the All Ears stance that all 2013 Epcot Segway tours have been cancelled sounds a little over-zealous.

Haven't been following this lately, but has it ever been posted why they are being canceled?

From this it sounds like its something very specific.

No one is saying why. Very tight-lipped. No leaks or rumors. Strongly suggests its a legal issue of some sort.

Mine is May 5. I'm planning on the assumption it's being cancelled but hoping that its not.

Hmmm...what do you mean by quite awhile? It's still listed in all the 2013 guide books.

It's only been a few weeks. Officially they announced they were cancelled and you can't book one now. Its
However, it seems like they're playing it by ear and not cancelling all the bookings immediately. So maybe it's only temporary.

The PP asked about the Segways in Innoventions where you can maneuver them for a few feet. They were not there in the fall.

The 2013 books need to be written probably half way through (or earlier) 2012 in order to get published and shipped in time. That's why I didn't buy one for this year's trip because everyone I looked in only had speculations for the new Fantasyland and other goings on which really don't help.

We did the Fort Wilderness Segway tour last Tuesday, 3/5; was glad we chose that one again when we heard the Epcot ones were cancelled; tour was fun and Fort Wilderness is very peaceful and pretty; no Segway pin anymore. This was our 5th or 6th Segway tour; the initial training was more safety focused and included how to "push" another rider away or catch one that may be falling into you. Asked the instructors why the Epcot tour was cancelled; their response was "it's the best kept secret in Disney" ...

When we took our Segway tour at Fort Wilderness on 2/16, the safety training did not include the push away or catching of others.

We have a tour scheduled for March 24 and still havent gotten a call that it is canceled and we are being refunded (watch, it will be on my answering machine this afternoon when I get home). But I called the "tours" line on Thursday and they said we were still booked and she was tight lipped about whether or not it is canceled. I am going to be really upset when we get there and are told it was canceled after I specifically called about it and others, before and after our tour, have been contacted about it.
I am bummed as I was really looking forward to it, but am also disappointed with how it is being handled (or not, in my case).
