As foodies, Epcot is mecca for us. Just sooooo good! My DH's favorite Disney attraction is the "beer tour of Epcot".
Having said that here's our Foodies Epcot Review...
We have 3 tiers of restaurants --
Tier 1 -- Must Do's:
- Le'Cellier (Canada) == Great food, atmosphere, service, and the bread. YUMMY!
- Tokyo Dining == Volcano Roll and the view.
- San Angel Inn == Very good food and romantic, unique location.
- Coral Reef == My DH isn't even a seafood fan and we love it here!
- Biegarten == My German ancestors would be proud! The food is great, Music wonderful and fun, and atmosphere is special.
Tier 2 -- OK when the moment is right.
- Garden Grill == Characters are the attraction, not the food
- Tepan Edo == We can get the same experience and food at home, but it is good.
- Rose & Crown == Its a great location, we just are not crazy about the food choices.
- Both restaurants in France == Very nice, when the mood is right.
- Marrakesh == Again very nice, when the mood is right.
Tier 3 -- Good, but not for us
- Nine Dragons == Ordinary Chinese food. Which is a shame because until they renovated and changed the menu it was a tier 1 restaurant.
- Tutto == Italian just isn't a food we go out for.
- Akershus == Great if you are family with girls, not a place for couples or a family with a boy.
Quick Service --
When we don't feel like sitting down, we will do our own version of the F&W festival and eat/drink our way around the world. Nearly every country has a great place to grab a nosh and a beverage. Watch out though -- those little noshes add up quickly.
The only place in Epcot that is nothing special and we avoid is Electric Umbrella. Why bother? The decor, food, and ambiance are all drab.
Now as for
someplace unique, with unique atmosphere and fun activities.
There are 6 primary choice:
Tied for 1st place -- Coral Reef and Biergarten. Both are places that are uniquely Epcot. Coral Reef with its full size aquarium that all tables can view because of the tiered seating and Biergarten because it makes Germany come alive with its outdoor theme and German music/story show.
Tied for 2nd -- Garden Grill, San Angel Inn, and Akershus. Garden Grill is a restaurant in the round -- as it moves around in circles with characters. San Angel because of its outdoor Mexican market setting. Akershus because of its food selections, castle dining theme, and princesses.
And in 3rd is Tepan Edo -- it is unique if you have never been to a Japanese steakhouse at home. It is a good show even if you have.
Happy eating!
