So we are going at the end of June. We have two days scheduled for Epcot and were thinking we would split the park. Do the rides one day and then travel the world on our second day. Is this a reasonable plan ? Will the rides take us the entire day ? I would love it to be a short day and be able to relax back at the hotel if so.

Read this link it was just asked by another poster

Best advice is to arrive at RD go straight to Soarin, get a FP for Soarin and get right in standby line...save your FP you just got for later

I like as mentioned in the link I posted about doing right half one day and left half the other...or vice versa...that way you are not burned out of one thing....

I love EPCOT its my favorite park, my wife says it just doesnt feel like Disney. I dont get it. Where else can you tour 12 countries, dive into a ocean, fly over California in a hang glider, go to mars, test drive a vehicle, go back in time a visit Dinosaurs, see the history of human communication, see pumpkins shaped like mickey, and travel through an upside down house with a purple dinosaur...it doesnt get anymore Disney than that...JMHO

If you take advantage of FP you should have no problem getting all rides done...especially in 2 days.

Thanks so much for your replies and the link! I am really looking foward to experiencing Epcot. On our first trip we were only able to do MK so I am really excited to see the other parks!

MK is the quintisential Disney Park...but the other 3 have so much to offer too...Animal Kingdom is a great park with some great themeing, the best parade in my opinion and one of the best shows anywhere, the Lion King, also with the addidtion of Everest it now has to very good thrill rides...Walking up and seeing the Tree of Life is about as exciting as turning the corner and seeing the Castle....enjoy AK for what it is and not what you hear it is...

DS is perhaps my least favorite park and is barely tolerable to be in to me...if it wasnt for RnR and ToT and now the stunt show and TSM I would even attempt this park...everything else is take it or leave it to me...I do however adore Fantasmic, so i guess that helps but its a nighttime show...So I have to spend my day doing the rest till fantasmic....DA does not handle even small crowds there and I am stressed everytime I leave it....one piece of advice...If you want to ride TSM without an hour wait be there at RD, get a FP and then ride standby...it is a madhouse at RD and most of the day in that area....its a small area crammed with people....You may love this place but I am just giving my opinion

I am thinking that my kids will enjoy DS more then we will. Especially with HSM and other things like that. I am hoping that is a short day for more downtime.

well if you plan on doing the shows and rides and Fantasmic it will not be a short day...AK will be your short day. We usually hop to Epcot after our day at AK...you can get a lot done from 5 till 9 at Epcot...

Here's my 2 cents:
While you certainly could do rides one day and WS another, we mixed it up a little on our last trip and it worked really well, especially with kids.
On our 1st day, we grabbed our Soarin FP's and hit that side of FW. We had lunch at Coral Reef. Then I grabbed TT FP's for later and we explored some of the countries in WS taking in a few things that we really wanted to see like the acrobats in China. We hit TT and Spaceship Earth on our way out.

Our 2nd day we had dinner ADR's at Teppan Edo and got to Epcot in the afternoon. We got Soarin FP's again, rode Mission Space which had a short line :confused3, checked out Innoventions and continued our WS exploration as well and also stayed for Illuminations.

We did a lot more than it sounds like and I thought that breaking it up allowed us to see a lot more. Because I did WS in a couple blocks, we were able to see more of the shows without the kids getting tired and we were able to ride favorite rides a second time since we didn't have to spend all our 2nd day in WS.

Obviously you don't want to spend all day walking back and forth as the place is huge but I was surprised at how easy it was to mix it up.

FWIW - My kids love Epcot! There is so much for them to do! If you want any specific favorites by age, let me know!

that sounds pretty good. but in future world you HAVE to check out innovations. also, when you get in the park, head straight ot soarin', get a fastpass then go ride test track or mission space then it should be about time so go back and ride soarin! =)

I would go straight to Soarin and get FP but I would immediately ride Standby with little wait and save the FP for the evening

We were at WDW Dec 13-21. My DD10 says her favorite park in Epcot, so we planned 2 days. The first day we did all of Future World, except Test Track which broke down. We did go through the World Showcase too, but didn't linger in the countries (we did CP).

The second day (later in the week) we went to DHS first, to do Toy Story Mania one last time, and then got to Epcot around 11am, and spent the rest of the day going around the World Showcase. DD really wanted to see all the Holiday Storytellers. We stayed to watch Illuminations that night.

I don't know how anyone can see all of Epcot in one day!

We also spent two days in Epcot. The thing to remember is that World Showcase doesn't open up right at 9:00, it opens at 11:00. As others have suggested, we spent the morning of our first day on one side of Future World, then worked our way into the World Showcase, basically trying to tour half of it. Our second day we did the other side of Future World, and the other half of the World Showcase. If you time this right, you wind up in the area of the American Pavilion at the end of each day to watch Illuminations. Also, it splits up the large amount of walking that the World Showcase requires into two days.
