I think I may cut our Epcot day in order to have an extra day at Magic Kingdom. There seems to be so little for my little guys to do and, my DH has been and wasn't a fan. I'd still like to see it, even if just in passing. Is it allowed to ride the Epcot Monorail and not enter the park? Thanks in advance!

Yes! It's sort of fun to take a ride on the monorail around Spaceship Earth and get a peek into the park, even if you aren't entering the park.

You sure can!

But I wish you'd give it a chance. :)

Someday I will for sure! Right now with a four and seven year old, and two seniors I've decided to shave off a park day and replace Epcot with Magic Kingdom. I kind of decided when I was planning fastpasses. I couldn't find three things that we all could do that I really wanted to.

Have your kids been before? I know when they were small Epcot was a favorite of my nieces and nephew. Plus for shopping you can't beat Mousegears! And then there is the Frozen ride, and the Seas with Nemo and friends....lots to do with little ones.

Oh, definitely give Epcot a chance! You're little ones just may surprise you. My daughter is 8 and Epcot has been her favorite park since she was 3. There really is a ton to do. There's Living with the Land and Soarin', The Seas with Nemo and Friends and the aquarium, Turtle Talk with Crush. There's a fantastic playground inside the Mission Space building. Mexico has The Three Caballeros boat ride, and Norway has Frozen. Then there's Figment and a Pixar Short film festival. Really, it's a fantastic park for their ages. :)

Epcot is a favorite for my DGD and has been since she was 4 years old. I wish you would give it a chance.

But if you choose to skip it, do take a spin on the monorail to take a peak inside. This is one of my favorite ways to introduce people to Disney when we arrive. I generally book Chef Mickey's for dinner, (I know, I know, but we like it) and so we always have an excuse to hop on the monorail. I like the Epcot loop, and then we finish by a trip on the MK monorail loop. SO much fun to watch the wonder as we pass through.

My DD at age 5 LOVED Epcot. She is now 17! Her favorite thing was to visit the world showcase shops and do the KidCot activities and learn a new word from a CM. even got her a small souvenir from each country that she shared at show and tell about her trip around the world.
Getting snacks from each country is fun too.
Have done WDW 8 times and still a big favorite. Will be going thanksgiving week 2018 for a HS graduation trip and plan on making grad caps and having “happy graduation” written from each country.

My 7 year old actually prefers Epcot. It's got more space to have quiet breaks, more room to spread out and she loved the Kidcot stations, Soarin, Figment, etc. I think MK gets overwhelming to her.

I tried to see all the attractions in future world last trip. I went to the Pixar shorts, surprised it was good. Crush, my favorite, and Spaceship earth. All of these are great for young ppl. You can add Frozen, living with the land, and Figment too. For World Showcase there are kidcot at each country, and Agent P's adventure game using your Smart phone.

I also took the Monorail round trip from Epcot to TTC.

So next trip...!

Different strokes I guess. Both my kids absolutely loved Epcot when they were younger. We still go twice every trip.

How many days will you be there? I hear you about wanting to skip a park to add more MK time...we did that last trip with DHS while so much was going on over there it seemed like there wasn't enough for my little ones to make it worth it (only a 5 day trip). But, if you have enough days, we would never skip Epcot...my kids were 6 and 4 last trip and loved it! I agree the pace is nice and they enjoy snacking around the world, checking out different countries and Frozen ever after is amazing and still my daughter's all time favorite ride. Have a magical trip whatever you decide!

My kids have always loved Epcot! A lot to see and also coloring the Duffy bear coloring stations at each country.

We also are starting with Chef Mickey's, we'll definitely do the Epcot loop. Thank you!

Thank you all for your responses! I definitely want to get to Epcot some day--maybe in a year or two. I have a six night stay and 4 days of park tickets. I did have have 5, but on our arrival day we have to have oxygen delivered for my mom. By the time I had that done I'd have maybe 2 and a half hours of park time. So I shaved that fifth day. Everyone in our group loves Magic Kingdom and one day there just won't be enough. The seniors (our mom's) need a break day in the middle. This will likely be their last trip, but we'll have the ability to take many more. I will get my boys into Epcot eventually, it's a goal for sure!

Consider park hopping on your DHS day. You can take a boat from DHS to Epcot. Each of the Future World pavilions except The Land has an interactive area that your children will enjoy and each country in World Showcase has a Kidcot activity station. In some ways there’s more there for younger children to do there than for adults.

My kids only enjoyed Epcot for about a half day park when they were young and so I don't blame you. Many more rides at MK for while they are small.

We always go to Epcot but I can sure understand wanting/needing more time at MK. We usually have a car so we hadn't take the monorail around Epcot for many years. For one reason or another we did it recently and I had forgotten just how cool that loop is. Highly recommended, but be aware you might change your mind about not going into the park once you've done that loop.;)

I have never ridden the monorail to Epcot before (we always get 1 park tickets so it's just easier to park at Epcot) but I think it's just like the Magic Kingdom where you get off the monorail and then you go scan your ticket so you could definitely just ride for the fun of it!
