My 7th grade nephew, has stated that Japan Pavilion is on his "not to be missed list". I am worried he will be a bit disappointed, I know that there is Matsuriza drummers, what other elements/entertainment in the Japan Pavilion would be interesting to a 7th grader ?

I luv the sake, sushi, and pick a pearl and looking at the treasures in the department store.

What else is there to see in the Japan Pavilion ?

The department store will be the main draw, with all of the Japanese anime stuff, like Pokemon, and the different candies and snacks in back. The kakigori, shaved ice, booth is good too.

We love the Japan pavilion, and my daughter insists we stop by for the gift shop.
Last time, I almost picked up a small bottle of a beverage to use in my Japanese cooking, but then I realized we had plans to hop to DHS and I wasn't sure DHS would let me enter with it so I passed on that.
But we (she) couldn't pass up buying some Pokemon-related things and one or more random kawaii souvenirs (like a tiny version of the little cat with his paw up.) The store seems large to me by EPCOT country standards, but still not as huge as we'd like, and it doesn't have as much variety in non-luxury items as we'd prefer. For future trips it would be nice if they carried more adult-sized t-shirts, nighties, etc., and a wider variety of gaming-related accessories (and games?), as well as Japanese language instructional supplements, more Japanese snacks (lots of them), and well, every item sold in Japan that isn't in regular U.S. stores lol.

There is also a small museum. I am not sure what this display is now, but last time we were there it was about anime and mythology.

I always loved watching Miyuki make the candy animals, but sadly she retired.

They have a lot of anime and pokemon stuff in there store. Theres also some pretty cool display of samurai stuff or used to be such.

My 11 year old son loves the big shop ( so does my 41 year old husband), they have a lot of Japanese games / toys / collectibles.

My kids can spend 2-3 hours in the Japan Pavilion. They love it. Every time we go to Epcot we have to plan extra time for Japan. They love it. They are though huge fans of Japanese culture. I doubt your nephew will be disappointed, it's pretty awesome.

The shop is awesome, you can spend a lot of time in there. People especially like trying the fun drinks and snacks.

There's also a koi pond that's worth a brief look. And you can ask any of the Japan CMs to write your name (or something brief) in Japanese. Like all the countries, there's a penny machine. I wish there was a grab and go sushi case back with the snacks; DD had a turkey leg, and I was wishing for some sushi I could just pick up with our other purchases instead of having to go inside and sit down.

Got stuck in Japan shopping area during a thunderstorm...it was big and spacious with a lot to look at. ⛈

My boys always loved Japan. There is also a Phineas and Ferb Agent P game in Japan. The drummers are great, the food is awesome, and can truly spend an hour or more in the department store. The display with the Kuwai culture is awesome, you may not know it, but I bet he does!

The quick service spot has sushi. I have gone there to grab takeout before.

Delve into the origin and evolution of kawaii—Japan’s “cute” culture in the museum located at the Japan Pavilion.
"Kawaii: Japan's Cute Culture” was really interesting.
