Thank you all for your help once again

We will be staying at BCV for 5 nights next week.

We are looking for restaurant recommendations for dinner that are childfriendly and good value in the EPCOT Hotel Area - around the Boardwalk and BCV Y&BC and also at the WDW Swan and Dolphin.

Any must do's?

For a special treat weare thinking about the Yachtsman Steakhouse - Any comments?

Thanks again

Hello: Family friendly, try Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club and Cape May Cafe. For Breakfast The Galley in the yacht club is OK too. The rest. in the Swan and Dolphin are more adult geared. At the BW, try spoodles. Bon ap...

I second Beaches & Cream - its small and gets crowed - try off- peak hours. Also, if you want a character buffet, our money is on the Crystal Palace in MK. Our favorite beef eatery is Le Cellier in Epcot Canada. Have a great time!!

here's a helpful hint
beaches and cream can get crowded ... but the tables outside are not waitress-served. so grab a table on the porch and head to the take-out window (there's a dedicated ice-cream take out window ... that also does a slightly smaller take-out menu for lunch/dinner) ... last week we were done with dinner before our "30-minute" wait for a table inside was over

we love BC because of SAB ... but the family-friendly (i.e., cheap) food options are limited at BC .... you can walk to BW or Epocot ... but BC needs a food court for sure!

also love the refillable mugs ... but there no place easy to refill at bc ... you have to ask a CM to fill them for you

have a fun trip

Must do these. Beaches and Cream for burgers <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_4_7.gif' alt='Burger Joint' border=0></a> and ice cream. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_4_11.gif' alt='Ice Cream' border=0></a> Cape May Cafe for the clambake.

<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_12_3.gif' alt='Steak House' border=0></a> Yachtsman for fine steaks, a bit more expensive. Shulas at the Dolphin is the finest and priciest steak on property, but not the best value for steak on property.

Flying Fish Cafe across the pond has very good seafood.

Incredible desserts abound at all of the restaurants mentioned ::yes::

We love staying at the BCV or BWV because of all the great restaurants within walking distance.

Every trip we eat at Spoodle's, Yachtsman Steakhouse and Beaches and Cream. We also enjoy the character breakfast buffet at Cape May. We like Big River Grille when they are not too crowded. They make a good burger, but Beaches and Cream has the best burger at WDW.

We are trying Flying Fish for the first time this trip. I am really looking forward to that!

I think Yachtsman is a wonderful idea for your special night out. The food is great and so is the service. We love the filet and finish with the dessert sampler.

Thanks for all the comments.

Beaches and Cream sounds like a no brainer.

The Yachtsman Steakhouse vs Shulas ? How do they compare or any other ideas for an alternative special evening restaurant (with the kids!!!)

Am I correct that the walk to the WDW Swan and Dolphin is not going to be worthwhile for food options. Sounds like the Boardwalk is a better bet.

Believe it or not although we own at BWV we travel to VB usually. Thus we have only eaten at ESPN. Any recommendations for eating at the Boardwalk? Spoodles? Big River Brewing?

Not big fans of seafood so will probaly pass on Flying Fish

Thanks again for the help. I'm starting to get very hungry thinking about it all.

PS

Do DVC members get a discount at BW and BC restaurants?

Beaches and Cream is a nice "fast food" place, excellent burgers and some fun dessert specials. We eat at Cape May quite a lot as it's an excellent breakfast character meal and the evening buffets are really good.

Nearby I thought the Flying Fish was an excellent restaurant ( like all Disney's a little pricey, but good quality), Spoodles was nice food, decent price ( service was a little off onour trip but I wouldn't hold it against the restaurant). In the S+D there is the excellent Palio's (Italian) and Don Shula's. I haven't eaten at this particular Shula's but I thought the one I ate at in Miami was top class and I'm looking forward to trying the one on WDW.

At Epcot I thought Le Cellier was a really nice steakhouse, for something a little unusual the buffet at Akerhus restaurant in Norway is something I really enjoy. The Teppenyaki counter in JApan is great food and very entertaining, although IMHO Benehana's at the Hilton at DTD does the same type of thing, as well, for about 70% of the cost. The Mexican at Epcot is quite nice as well, although a little dark IMHO.

YSH is a fantastic resturant, good superb food, great service. It is a little pricy but well worth the atmosphere and all the service and quality you get with it. :D We got there every trip, it is a must on our list :D

If you want to try Shula's, they give you two free hours of babysitting while you are eating. That might be an option. I totally agree with all of the other given suggestions, but would like to add one more for breakfast. In the Dolphin, there is a breakfast buffett call Fresh. It had wonderful strawberry cream cheese french toast. They have a great variety and the service was wonderful. Might be something to try one morning.

Have to chime in with a few obvious ommissions:
ESPN Sports Club
Big River Grille and Brewing Works
Yacht Club Galley
Boardwalk Pizza Window

One important one to know about if your a night owl is:
Tubbi's Buffeteria
'cause it's open 24 hours and they carry convience store items too. If you need asprin in the middle of the night...

Something nice we found out at the last trip was the very nice gas station/convenience store right across the street from BWV, with reasonable prices on soda, Crispy Cream donuts and other items. It's within walking distance.

I prefer the Yachtsman because I think it is a better value. Shula's is most like a Morton's, while Yachtman's is closer to a Ruth Chris.

The Yachtsman Steakhouse is one of our favorite restaurants in WDW. We've gotten everything from steaks to lobster to fish dishes to rack of lamb - always delicious. Their caesar salad is terrific, too. Their desserts are really cool - including a puzzle cookie that kids can "paint" and eat.:earsboy:

With kids...give tubbi's at the Dolphin a try...great food..like homemade..open 24 hours a day.

Spoodles for breakfast or dinner.

For a good value I would go for Beaches & Cream or ESPN. For a splurge, I highly recommend YSH. We ate there a couple weeks ago and it was absolutely wonderful(Ive posted a more detailed review here)! We saw kids of all ages there too.
While I havent eaten there, Ive heard wonderful things about Palio at the Swan, and I would like to try that sometime.
