i have actually gone as far as Norway and been on the ride but have never continued any further. this year i definately wanna hit the american adventure, i watched program about disney on the travel channel and it talked alot about that ride and honestly up until that point i didn't even know it existed. 1-if you've been on it, how is it? and 2-where the heck is it? i have a birnbaum's guide book but american adventure doesn't show up?? thanks again

No words can do the American Adventure justice. It's the best "show" in WDW. Mark Twain and Benjamin Franklin take you on a journey through America's history...and yes, I know it's a Disneyized version of history. ;) It's located in the center of WS. It's a red brick Colonial building that would be at home in Liberty Sqaure at MK.

Cheers

Further info for those who haven't been to American Adventure - it isn't a ride, it's a theatre with a large stage in front on which the aniamatronic scenes take place. It's a great show - even for a Brit like me!

I love World Showcase, unfortunately I too am married to a 'tornado' who just walks me round it - though we do stop to see the shows as they happen. But on our last visit he gave me some time alone, when I was able to dive back into the different countries/buildings, and what a wealth of things there is to explore, see, do, eat, etc.

I must admit though, that I would never have thought to look for many of the highlights without these great DIS Boards, which inform and give you so many tips on things to seek out and enjoy.

Thanks DIS Boards and contributors.

Annie.

WS is my favorite place at WDW, and it's the first park we visit on each trip. I would skip everything else rather than skip this. I'm not a commando tourist or a tornado. I like to take my time and soak up the atmosphere of each country (and soak up some of the food and drink, too). I'm a born shopper, and I love visiting all the international shops. I don't buy much because my suitcases are just too small!

We do visit FW, but last time all we did was Space Ship Earth, and then returned to WS.

No words can do the American Adventure justice. It's the best "show" in WDW.
I have to agree with this statement. If this show doesn't fill you with patriotism (at least if you're a US citizen) nothing ever will.

It is a must do for our family each trip! We can go first thing when it opens and have stayed many evenings until close. This will be our sixth trip and each time we go there is something we had missed.

I agree that WS is a place not to be missed! I'm not much of a shopper but we plan our circuit on the little "shows" in each country. Nothing beats sitting on the floor in the rotunda in American Adventure and listening to the Voices of Liberty. We have videotaped them many times over the years everyone in the family will watch them over and over!

World Showcase is the most fun at night IMO. There's a lot of really good musical and other acts at the different countries. We particularly enjoy listening to Off Kilter in Canada. And both Norway and France have fabulous bakeries if you have a sweet tooth.

We love going to WS. This year we managed to make it to WDW while the Flower & Garden Festival was going on. We loved to see all the beautiful flowers and different displays at each country. We got to do the Ladybug release and that was fun.

We love to just take our time and visit all the different shops and have a nice look around each country. We have found something new each time we have gone recently.

My daughter picked a pearl in Japan on our visit in March and I had a doll made in Germany and the dollmaker signed it for me. I have been in that shop so many times and finally gave myself a treat and bought one. My daughter also bought a doll but picked a pre-made one. She got one that is almost lifelike and fits 0-3 month baby clothes.

We saw the living statues in France one year and watched the acrobats in China. At Christmas they have other happenings in each country too.

Anymore we don't do too much in FW as much as we do in WS.

You guys have really got me looking forward to WS during our August trip! This is our first Disney trip. We have PSs at Rose and Crown at 8:00 on our first night, Sunday. (I hope I timed that right so we can see Illuminations from there).

Anyway we had saved the last evening of our trip to revisit our favorite park, and I'll bet WS is it! You'd have to know my family. DS7 and DD6 are not thrill seekers; we'll ahve a hard time getting them on any rides at all. Also, since they are both adopted from Korea, we have always stressed "things international" as long as they've been alive. Whenever there's some sort of International festival within 200 miles of where we live, we go to it. My kids love them!

Plus, my DW gets putt off whenever I "go comando" on her, and WS will be the kind of place where she can relax and "explore".

I can't wait!:Pinkbounc Now, if only WS had a "Korea" area...

I love world showcase! I like to listen to the bands, watching the acrobats, and going through some of the shops. :D

Our last trip was the first trip I didn't do much at World Showcase. We ate in the Canadian restaurant and saw, the parade and Illuminations, but that was it.

My first trip to Epcot in '86, I was with my family. My Dad made us go thru every country, ride every ride and see every CircleVision 360 movie in the place! We were so tired. Subsequent visits were not as detailed, but, we still hit every country. In fact, in '94, I went with a roommate who had never been to WDW before. We stopped in all the countries and ate our way around the world. LOL

During next month's trip I'd like to get in to the American Adventure again as we missed it on our last trip and when I go next year with hubby, we will spend more time in the different country's since we won't be a rushed as we were in 2000.

Even if you don't plan on being there very long, it is delightful to just walk in and out of the buildings. They are all special. The gift shops in each country represent merchandise FROM that country, so it is very educational, too.

The rides at Mexico and Norway are great.
The show called The American Adventure, is a TOTALLY Must-see.

Inside the Mexico pavillion is completely georgeous!

You really need to walk in all the buildings. Don't just look at the outside. I guarentee you...You will be hooked.

I, too, can't believe some folks have skipped such a treasure. The films are awesome! The ride in Mexico is a little cheesy, but I LOVE it! The darkness, the night--it's cool (temp.)--have to do it.

DH and I (no kids yet) love the Rose & Crown pub. We have met interesting people and there is a bartender who does mindbender-type tricks when the place is not too busy. There is a woman adorned with vintage buttons who leads a piano sing-a-long at night-at least last time I was there...

Every pavillion has something to offer inside and out. Japan has great sushi, and most countries have a great snack or authentic adult bevreage! :D

The American Adventure is a great show--film/animatronics, etc.. Proud to be an American--feel. Disneyfied, but great!

The most memorable parts of my past 3 vacations w. DH have been from World Showcase.

Wow...I can't even imagine people not visiting World Showcase! It's my favorite! It is so relaxing, we just take our time and mosey around. You've got to try it! It's an awesome place... ;)

Our family spends a great deal of time in WS; it's one of our favorite spots in WDW. From the movies in France, Canada and China to the American Adventure, we enjoy those shows a lot. Throw in the outdoor entertainment, rides in Mexico and Norway, and shopping, eating and exploring and you really have a great variety of ways to enjoy yourself. And you top off the day at Illuminations. Give WS a try.

I liked World Showcase too. People have been telling me for years how boring it was. The other chaperones I was with kept telling me the kids are going to be so bored.

I loved World Showcase. I started with Canada and the first thing I said to the CM-girl, "Ok, you really from Canada". She said, "Yes I am". I said I'm from Wisconsin, we should be part of Canada, it is always so **#@ cold. She just started laughing.

I ditched the chaperone that said it would be boring and I walked through and then turned around in Mexico and came back and stopped at things I didn't see. After reading these boards when I came back, I still missed a lot!

I am excited about going back, especially to Epcot!

I used to split my time equally between FW and WS. However, on my last 2 trips I spent way more time in WS. I have not enjoyed FW as much as I used to. The Living Seas is now awful (I used to love it). The Figment ride has also been ruined. There is no more Horizons. I chicken out every time I get in line for Test Track and I know I won't like Mission Space. Pretty soon I'll just be passing through FW and spending all my time at WS.

I've walked every inch of Epcot, and the World Showcase is my favorite part of WDW.

In Norway, take a few minutes to go into the Stave Church- perhaps the most easily-missed exhibit in the whole World. Also, I've seen a couple of amazing exhibits in the museum in Japan... including one about Japanese kid's toys and one about pro baseball in Japan.

The problem with stuff like this in Epcot is that it's usually not condusive to keeping a tight schedule. If you have the time, though, it's worth it. Have a beer and check out Off Kilter in the Canada Pavillion, or the British Invasion Beatles cover band in the U.K. Fun.

LovesHauntedMansion,
You should try Test Track. If you like Space mountain, you will have no trouble on Test track. All the stuff inside is very mild and then the outside part is just like driving/riding in a car. Up until test track opened the fastest thing at WDW was the monorail. But even TT barely goes faster.

We haven't done alot of the shows in FW for sometime, but I agree with you on The Living Seas. It is no longer the ride it used to be. We plan on going in Nov/Dec and have decided to hit some of the things we haven't done in a while. I will have to get DH to do O Canada and China circlevision.

I love finding new things to see or do in WS.

We love WS, the movies and rides are fun.... One year we decided to have a fun adventure and eat a little sample from each country. We snacked and strolled the shops, did the tours and rides..my kids still remember that.. Plus if you scrapbook, I have a 2 page spread for each country.. made a great book.

There are fun activities in each of the countries from the bands and comics to the American Adventure - not to be missed...

After the MK, WS is my favorite park. I wouldn't miss it.

I love the World Showcase. I think you should at least wale through it when you are there. I think you might be surprised at how fun the World Showcase really is.
