Can anyone help me with making an itinerary for our Epcot days. I have been trying to figure out a plan that works and I am at a loss. I have never been there so I am not quite sure just how far apart everything is and how much time it would take to get from one place to the next etc. And characters are a big priority so the limited meet times are also a problem. Background info: it will be me, DH, DD15 and DS8. We will have 2 days in Epcot. Saturday June 18th from open to close and Friday June 24th (that day will probably have a late start due to a late night the night before and will probably leave early as well). I like to have an approximate hourly itinerary.
Things we want to do:
Frozen Ever After (hoping for fp)
Test Track
Soarin (if open by then)
Sum of all Thrills
Ellen's Energy Adventure
Spaceship Earth
Nemo
Turtle Talk
Living with the Land
Figment
Pixar film shorts
Meet and greets: A&E, Baymax, Joy & Sadness, Epcot character spot, Mulan, Belle, Alice, Snow White, Aladdin & Jasmine, Mary Poppins, Donald Duck
We also want to see all the countries in the WS and do some Agent P missions.
I don't even know where to begin. Or even how to plan without crossing the park too much because of fast passes. I originally wanted to do half of FW and WS one day and the other half the next. But if I do snag a frozen fp one day and a test track the next that throws everything off. So far the only thing I have set in stone is on the saturday:
ADR @ Akershus 8am
Illuminations that night.

So sorry for the extremely long post but I could really use some help/advice. Thanks in advance.

Nobody has a touring plan that includes the Frozen ride yet, for obvious reasons. All you can do is watch for an announcement so you can hopefully snag a FP and then modify your existing plan.

Just as a starting point, have a look at the Epcot cheat sheets at easywdw.com :

Doing the park over 2 days is very do able. You should be able to avoid most park crisscrossing, except for possibly Frozen.

That's quite a bit for 1.5ish days in the park. I usually like to think of Epcot as a 2 day park when most everything is open. Late June will also be pretty busy.

One decision you'll need to make will be which attractions you want to use your Tier 1 FP's on. I think Frozen will be a Tier 1, and since it'll be so new, I think you better use one there. Same goes for Soarin', since it will effectively be new, as well. That kind of leaves Test Track out of the mix, but one suggestion I might have would be to go there and use the single rider line, especially in the morning. You will be separated, but the only time you're actually separated is during the ride itself...probably all of about 5 minutes. Just pick a spot to meet after the ride...where the photos are displayed is a good one. And there's a decent chance that two of you will wind up in the same car, one behind the other. Of course, if either Frozen or Soarin' aren't ready, you can use the Tier 1 on Test Track.

When you go over to Pixar Film Shorts, find out when the next show is...I think they're spaced about 20 minutes apart. If close to the maximum, go ride Figment and come back. The Figment line is pretty short. By the way, the Pixar Film Shorts is fun! I'm glad to see a good use of that theatre again and nice to see people in the seats. However, do not use any Fastpass for Pixar...it isn't necessary.

As far as walking around, most of your Fastpasses, with the exception of Frozen, will be in Future World. The time to walk from any portion of FW to another is about 5 minutes. Norway (Frozen) isn't far into World Showcase, so criss-crossing shouldn't be too bad.

Also, if you're not using an FP on Spaceship Earth, resist the temptation to get on line for it when you enter the park in the morning. It seems to be busy all the time, but it backs up fast since its the first thing you hit entering the park. (Of course, if its a short line, go for it)

Enjoy it...Epcot is a lot of fun!

Criss crossing isn't a horrible thing in the front of the park, Futureworld. What you would want to avoid is going back and forth from Futureworld and the World Showcase.

You have a lot of character meets. Are you doing any other character meals that will take care of some of those characters?

It's a little more than a mile around the lake so keep that in mind for distance.

I understand there are no touring plans with frozen yet. That will just have to be thrown in wherever I can get it. I guess what I was trying to ask was if I were to, for example, have a fp for test track on the day I was doing the other side of FW would it be reasonable to have to cross over to the other side just for one fp? Again I have no grasp on the actual size of the park so I wasn't sure if this would be a bad idea. I apologize if my original post was confusing. I was trying not to make it too long lol.

Thank you so much, a lot of good advice there!! I'm glad you say criss crossing FW shouldn't be that big of a deal. It will be closer to 2 full days just maybe minus 2 or 3 hours. I can try to add those back in if necessary but I worry about making rope drop with only 6 hours of sleep for my youngest lol. Unfortunately single rider for TT is out because my son is terrified of trying new rides and will refuse to ride without me or my DH. So we will more than likely end up having a big wait somewhere.

There are a few characters I would drop if my kids would let me lol. I think we could get away with dropping Alice and Mary Poppins for sure. I was only doing the character spot because we will more than likely get a fp for it. Baymax, Joy & Sadness, Mulan, and A&E will obviously be the priorities since they aren't available anywhere else.

Understandable, but I bet after he rides it, he'll say "let's do it again!"

Anyway, assuming Soarin is open, if you hit Test Track right away (at rope drop would be good if you go that early), the line may not be too bad. Or you could do the reverse, hit Soarin right away and FP Test Track. That might not be a bad idea since Soarin is going to a 3rd theatre (I haven't paid much attention...I'm not sure if that's scheduled for the same time as the new film update)

I'm not a uber-planner, but we have always split EPCOT between Future World and World Showcase with success. Planning the World Showcase day when you have the late start would work as it doesn't really get going until 11a.m.

/
If you get one of the passporter's books they provide you with a map and walking times between attractions. That is helpful but doens't necessarily take into account if the crowds are heavy, but it is helpful. It is very helpful to take a printable epcot map -- highlight what attractions/character times you want to do and plan your day systematically so that your day just flows with traveling around the park. The last thing your want to is be in the world showcase and have to run to test track for a FP time. Plan your dining reservations for lunch or dinner in places where you might be close to at the time you are walking around.

As for the characters, I love meet and greets but we don't commit to them until we see the line. The lines in World Showcase can drag on and on and you just never know how long each family will take or when the princess may need to stop for a potty break. For Jasmine, one time we were even told to come back at the end of her current set so we would be guaranteed to see her during the following set. It is madness.

I've made a deal with my DD7- we meet who we meet and we don't miss a beat! Meaning, if the line looks tolerable or we are super excited to meet one in particular, we wait. Otherwise, we will snap a picture as we walk by and let it be.

Don't forget about making a point to hit the boat rides. Some of the favorite things my boys loved to do (and me too) were the transportation boat rides across the lagoon. Also, the boat ride in Mexico is quite enjoyable.

Thanks so much for the help. If he likes the ride single rider might be a good idea to ride again! Do you think hitting test track after our Akershus breakfast would work? I am pretty new to Disney in general so we have never done a character meal or any TS meal for that matter. Our only experience is one day at MK last summer.

I thought about doing FW one day and WS the other but I wasn't sure if DS would get too bored if we did it that way. Maybe we could do FW the first day and then just fp a few rides the second day and spend the rest in WS?

Thank you I will have to check that book out! Great idea about printing a map too. That will be helpful for planning all the parks I think!

We are planning the boat ride in Mexico but I must have missed the other boat ride on the lagoon. I will look into that, thanks!

We just got back a couple days ago and planned to ride Test Track after our pre-park opening Akershus breakfast. Everything was going smoothly, got the check early, saw all the princesses, got to Test Track and ....the ride was down. We opted to head to the Living Seas and Turtle Talk and kept checking on Test Track through the Disney app. It was down for over an hour. We were glad we had FP+ for it later. Moral of the story: Don't count on the pre-park opening breakfast.

For your Sat. plan, since you have 8am ADR at Akershus, assuming it is not an EMH morning, if Frozen ride is open(or A&E meet), you should be done brft. right around 9 and could jump right in line(if ride opens at 9 even though WS will not be open yet) and keep your FP for Soarin or TT., since they will probably all be Tier 1. When you are done, you could head back to Future World, and do your Tier 1 FP(make it for 10:30-11:00) and The Seas(Nemo, Turtle Talk which you can FP Tier 2 if you want). If you FP Soarin, Living with the Land is right there so you could do that if the line is short. Since it will probably be midday, if you are hungry, Sunshine Seasons in the Land building(next to Soarin and Living with the Land) has some good variety quick service or snacks. You could check the app for lines at Spaceship Earth and Sum of all Thrills( not sure if that one is on there), and if they are high, you could do the Pixar Shorts on the way over toward WS. Also, try Club Cool where you can try free samples of sodas from around the world. There is one to watch for, but I will let you be surprised unless you want to know ahead! Ellen's E.A. and Figment are really not must-do attractions, so I would skip them until your second day if you can get to them then. Whatever you don't finish you could plan to hit the second day, and make late morning FP for the other Tier 1 and any Tier 2s you missed. Remember, if you have completed your 3 FP, you can try to grab another for later.

When you head over the bridge to WS(probably mid afternoon, maybe 3:00?) use the times guide to see which characters are appearing at what times in each country, and make your way around the half-circle. You can see how the lines are for those, and can always come back on your second day for ones that are long. It gets very hot standing in line for most because you are not often in shade. Also, as PP mentioned, you may have already caught some if you have been in other parks prior to this day, or will see them if you are going there next, especially MK. You can check out Kenny the Pirate's site where he has maps of each parks with character locations. You can choose a country you want to do for the Agent P. Game when you get to the spot where they set you up(I believe it is near England) or before you head over if they still have a station in Innoventions. There are also Kidcot stops in each country where you make a craft and get a stamp for each one you visit. Mexico has the boat ride you can do inside(it is a nice air conditioned break!) and a few countries have movies. There are of course many restaurants to grab food in depending on your tastes, and then you will want to stake out a spot for Illuminations, 30 min. - 1 hr. before, depending on the crowd level and where you want to stand.

If Frozen ride is not open and A&E meet has not moved from MK, then I would do as richmo suggested above, and FP Soarin, and head right to TT when brft is done(heading back over the bridge to FW) and then continue with the rest. I think you can get a lot done on your first day with a plan in mind, knowing you won't get to everything, and then you know you have the second day to fill in the rest, or do things again you liked. With the crowds, heat, and walking involved, you definitely will want to do things in one area at a time, and be able to take breaks as needed.

As you travel around Wolrd Showcase, you'll see many bands and entertainers at many of the countries. Some people walk right past them and some like me will watch the entire performance in most cases. So you may or may not take that into account in your plans.

There are several good restaurants in Epcot also so check out the options and see what interests you.

Thanks so much for the help. If he likes the ride single rider might be a good idea to ride again! Do you think hitting test track after our Akershus breakfast would work?...

That depends. If you're in and out of Akershus before 9:00, hitting Test Track right away (standby line) isn't a bad idea. I haven't been, but I suspect that breakfast + walking time to Test Track (a little less than 10 minutes) would take you a bit past 9:00. The problem is that with the FP+ tiering, the standby lines for both Test Track and Soarin' (and probably Frozen) build up very quickly when the park first opens.

I thought about doing FW one day and WS the other but I wasn't sure if DS would get too bored if we did it that way. Maybe we could do FW the first day and then just fp a few rides the second day and spend the rest in WS?

The problem with that is WS doesn't open until 11:00. We've always started the day in FW and get back to World Showcase at some point after 11:00. With the exception of the Frozen ride to be, there really won't be any lines for anything in World Showcase. As far as DS getting bored (presumably in World Showcase), there are the Kidcot stops at most countries (get a mask and add on to it) and the Phineas and Ferb (Agent J) interactive adventure that he might enjoy. Both are free and I believe there are different Agent J adventures, so you could do a different one each day.

We are planning the boat ride in Mexico but I must have missed the other boat ride on the lagoon. I will look into that, thanks!

Keep in mind the boat ride on the lagoon isn't an attraction in itself, its just transportation to get from one side to the other.

When it comes the the character meet and greats in the world showcase, there is really not a ton of lines as WS first opens. I personally love meeting characters so I went uber planner one night and marked down what characters were going to be where and when the decided the best order to optimize my chances of meeting as many as i could. I didn't get to see everyone but I think i met everyone i really wanted to and the lines weren't too bad. However it took a bit of time. If you're only going to be in the park for a day and a half it might not be the best option unless meeting the characters at WS is high on your list of must do's. (i also couldnt have imagined my brother at age 8 being thrilled about waiting and doing all the walking to meet princesses. but everyone is different!) Hope this helps! :D

Wow thanks so much for all your advice! I definitely like a lot of your ideas. Super helpful! I will definitely save Ellen for day 2 since it's such a long attraction anyways. I am going to go with your idea to just make a good plan for day 1 and then just use day 2 for the things we didn't have time for or want to do again. That takes out a lot of the planning stress for sure!

As you travel around Wolrd Showcase, you'll see many bands and entertainers at many of the countries. Some people walk right past them and some like me will watch the entire performance in most cases. So you may or may not take that into account in your plans.

Ooh thanks! I didn't even think about that! Will definitely keep that in mind!

Thanks again for all of your suggestions! You have been incredibly helpful! I talked to DS about Agent P and the kidcot stations and he is pretty excited so that's a good sign!

When it comes the the character meet and greats in the world showcase, there is really not a ton of lines as WS first opens. Thanks for the tips! Not everyone is as character obsessed as my family so I often just see advice to skip them here on the boards. I think we have narrowed it down to Mulan and Belle (and A&E hopefully) for the WS character priorities, and then anything else will just be a bonus. I never would have thought my son would be that excited about meeting princesses either, but last year he got to be the Beast at Enchanted Tales w Belle. After he danced with Belle he was hooked!! All of the sudden he was all about meeting the princesses lol!

THIS.

Don't forget about making a point to hit the boat rides. Some of the favorite things my boys loved to do (and me too) were the transportation boat rides across the lagoon. Also, the boat ride in Mexico is quite enjoyable.

WHy is that????? WE always take the boat! WE take the Boat across the lagoon in Epcot, across the lake between DHS, Epcot and all the resorts, and across the lake between Yacht Club and the Boardwalk.

And just to add, we took the little gils n our street in August, and we hit the main attactions in every park, but the last day we strolled in the WS. WE were the first in line for the boat ride in Mexico....and you guessed it! WE ode again..... And if the girls had their way we would have sailed again! Hands down, one of their favorites!

I'm not a uber-planner, but we have always split EPCOT between Future World and World Showcase with success. Planning the World Showcase day when you have the late start would work as it doesn't really get going until 11a.m.

I totally agree. Both FW and WS have so many things to offer. I would plan for FW first then any time left over I would designate to WS. The follow day I would use FP+ in FW and pick up where I left off at WS.
