Epcot Guests to have Choice of Two Mission: SPACE Adventures reported on Allears

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., May 2, 2006 - By the beginning of summer, Epcot Guests will have two options when it comes to riding Mission: Space -- the original thrill attraction and a new version for those who prefer a milder ride experience.

Unsure if this ride is open. :confused3 Just wondered if anyone had tried the new milder version of Mission: Space and wondered what their experiences were. I suffer from motion sickness and have not been on the original ride but may consider the milder ride.

Lass here just returned fella. She didnt know about the two versions and went on the non spinning one, obviously she came off all cocky saying that was easy. Someone pointed out that she should try (think this is right) "The orange queue" Needless to say she came off all sickly. Would have love to have been there to see her face.

hmm - I think my 'Lass' needs to get her own login on these boards

Just to stress it was Julie not Johnny who posted this thread!

I would imagine that Mission:Space without the 'g' force effects (i.e. the spinning) would be a pretty boring ride :(

A bit like Star Tours without any movement :)

Can't remember which trip report it was but they reviewed the new version after riding the old one and said that they still had juddery effects just not the force of the spinning one and that it still made a good ride. Think I might be opting for Mission green this time, the orange one left me queasy for about an hour, and i don't normally get sick on anything :confused3

I suffer with motion sickness as well, so I am going to give this new version a go, just so I can get to see what it is like inside as Ive always been to worried to ride the original version. :)

me too :thumbsup2

We did the new 'green' version for the first time last week and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We had expected something very tame without the 'spinning' effects, but they have done a good job in making it a very enjoyable and exciting ride (without any of the nausea-inducing elements!). Much of the ride is still the same, and they do manage to get a bit of 'oomph' into the lift-off (the best bit on the 'orange' version). If you can do Star Tours, you can certainly do this (although the capsules are much smaller, and not ideal if you suffer from claustrophobia).

Thanks for that update Simon. I think we shall have both parents in the new version with the DDs in the 'real thing'.

Thanks for your responses, I think it looks very exciting and will give it a go. I couldn't face the original due to motion sickness, I get motion sickness on 'Cat in the Hat' at Universal while my son laughs his head off.

Not that funny mate, I am having to go around all the posts she is putting on and deleting all the dancing smilies she has used.
