DS, DD, & I are going Oct. 6-10th - right before Columbus Day - staying at POR & I'm down to the last planning stages. Planning on going to WDW & US - thinking of going to MK on Wed, and Epcot on Friday or Sunday. Which would be better? I've heard FL kids are out of school on Friday. If that's true - will Epcot be less crowded that day because no school groups? We have gone Sunday morning to Epcot before & found it to be very uncrowded, but that's before they extended the F&W Festival to beginning of October. Any thoughts from veterans out there? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!!!

Welcome to the DIS, ScotLady. I'm very glad you found us and I hope you can visit often.

I've never toured WDW in October, so I'm going to move this back to page one for you, so that some of our veterans can offer advice.

This coming Oct will be our first time doing the world in Oct but i do know that the friday your talking about 10/8 is a MNSSHP night so MK will close early for all not doing the party
i don't know if that will effect epcot or not
but i'll bump this back to page one
maybe someone there will know:wave:

We will be there the exact same days as you are! We are arriving late on 10/06. On 10/07 we are doing MGM as we did not go there last trip. On 10/08 we are doing a water park in the a.m. and have ordered tickets to MHSSHP that night. We have never done this before and are really looking forward to it. On 10/09 we are going to do another WP and then maybe just DTD or resort hoping in the p.m. On 10/10 we will spend the day visiting relatives in the area. We were not going to do EPCOT this trip, not sure if our kids would get much out of F&W and we did everything at EPCOT in March. I don't know about the schools down there, we have Friday and Monday off here, and our kids will miss Thursday to do this quicky trip. We are staying at OKW. Have you considered the Halloween Party? We are not US or IOA fans, we do enjoy Sea World, but this trip it will just be Disney for us! Have fun planning.....Lacee

My DW and I are heading down on 10-6 as well. We are staying at PC and will be arriving in the morning, checking in and heading to Blizzard Beach for the afternoon, and then off to Hoop Dee Doo at 7:15. Great way to put a smile on your face the day you arrive.
We are believers in taking advantage of the Magical Hour on the days they are available, so we will head to MK on Thur morning but get out of there at midday when it gets crowded. Then it's nap and off to MGM for a few rides and Fantasmic! AK Friday morning and we hope to see all of you at the MNSSHP at night!!!
Typhoon Lagoon on Saturday...maybe Jellyrolls at night (awesome place). We are going to do EPCOT on Sun at a slow pace and plan to sneak out to ESPN to watch the Patriots-Dolphins game. Mon we will enjoy hopping around the parks again and Tue head to MGM for Early Entry and finish the trip off with lunch at the 50's Cafe (love the PB&J shake)
I think Fri or Sunday will work for EPCOT, whichever fits your schedule best! Thanks for getting me revved up about the trip!! See you there!!:bounce:

To answer you question, it probably doesn't matter...EPCOT can absorb a crowd the best of any park regardless...the Food and Wine festival will be the same Fri or Sun...they are there for that though and not buggin up the attractions alot!

A question for you though...where is MNSSHP on your schedule....the opinion of many is that this is the best party Disney throws and you will be cheated if you do not take the opportunity to go while you have the chance!!!!!

LaceeMouse & Princess Lovers Mom:

I didn't mention my kids' ages - DD is 11 and DS is 16. MNSSHP sounds like lots of fun - we've never been, but I didn't know if they would really be interested. I've also heard it is really crowded? Don't want to take DS where it is elbow-to-elbow - he has physical handicaps & can fall if pushed around a lot.

Also, this is DD's 3rd trip, DS's 4th trip, and they have said they want to try US this time around. So we're just doing 1 day each at MK and Epcot (our two favorite parks!) and then a day each at US & IOA. We're being smart this time and planning one day - Saturday - just for down time. My daughter's 12th Bday is that day & when I asked what she wanted to do that day - she said "Shopping!!". Since I'm on the subject - anyone have suggestions for a special place to eat that night for her?

We are also heading to WDW on the 6th and attending MNSSHP on the 8th (DD#2's 11th b-day). We are staying through the 11th at Pop. The rest of the group is DH, DD#1 (13), BF and her DD (4yo).
