DH, DD(4), DS(7), and I will be making our first trip to WDW this September. We are very excited. I get to make my ADRs tomorrow morning and hope that all will go as I have envisioned.

My only remaining dilema is what table service meal to have as an evening meal at Epcot. I would like to do something that would be enjoyed by my husband as most of our other meals will hopefully be character oriented and geared to the kids. I initially was thinking the Coral Reef, but after reading reviews am reconsidering. Garden Grill is also intruiguing to me, but another character meal. I am interested in something "fancy" and a bit quieter, but also condusive to children and their tastes. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I trust your expertise and experience and can't wait for suggestions.
Thanks,
Cris

I have a bunch of character meals but after looking at the reviews i also picked Biergarten in Epcot. It looks like alot of fun for the kids. After looking at the youtube videos i decided that was one place i would definitely like to try. I never ate german food before and alot of people said the food was very good. It is something i wouldnt normally do but the atmosphere is awesome and kids definitely would have a great time dancing.

If you want something a bit fancier and more quiet, I would choose either Le Cellier, San Angel in Mexico, or Chefs de France. Biergarten is one of my favorites, but it's NOT quiet! I haven't tried the new restaurant in Italy yet, but that may be an option too. IMO the restaurants in China and Japan are run of the mill.

Honestly, we were at Biergarten in March. My family loves German food, but found Biergarten seriously substandard. It was rather fun, but we won't be returning. Our favorites are Le Cellier (there's a reason it's the first to book ADRs), Marrakesh (although it wasn't as good the last time we were there) and Tutto Italia. I haven't tried Teppan Edo yet, but it's on the list. Have a GREAT trip!! :) Oh and if you're going to eat at Epcot you really should do it in The World... There are some good places to eat at the Boardwalk as well... Although one of our favs - Spoodles -is being replaced by Kat Cora's new place - haven't been there yet either.

I would vote for Le Cellier if you can get and Chefs de France if you can't.

The one thing I have learned on these boards about dining is that except for a few restaraunts the reviews vary. People might be used to five star crystal service and anything is less then standard. Some are used to eating fast food all the time and may not be as picky. Some are in between Look at the menus and decide what you might like. Service is hit or miss depending upon the moon. Most people like Le Cellier but I found it o.k. and I don't have 5 star tastes. I am trying Coral Reef this time. Good Luck!

I don't know what you consider as fancy, but my hubby and children both really enjoyed Teppon Edo. The service was FANTASTIC and the japanese style food there was delicious. I am not sure about the suppertime noise level because we went for a late lunch, but it was not loud to us and we enjoyed the chef's jokes as he prepared the food. :goodvibes

Experiences are hit-or-miss of course, but prices aren't ;-) DH and I thought Tutto was overpriced for Italian food. We had a great family experience in 2008 with folks and sibs at Coral Reef, and have always had a good experience just the 2 of us at Chefs.

Wherever you decide, enjoy!

We went in December with our DS who was then 6. We all really enjoyed Teppan Edo. It was calm and low key, yet still entertaining to watch the chef. We sat with a nice family from Chicago and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

We also tried Tutto Italia. Expensive, but a nice atmosphere and excellent service. Our son was entertained just watching the waiters and studying the murals.

I am thinking the same thing for our next trip. I narrowed it down to Biergarten, Coral Reef, and Teppan Edo. They all seem to have some entertainment value for little ones, without the characters. I think I'm leaning toward Teppan Edo though. My kids would probably like the food better.

What kind of food does your dh like?

My DH loves Sushi so his favorite is Tokyo Dining. *we are actually eating at Tokyo Dining, Teppan Edo, Le Cellier, Chefs and Tutto Italia.

We are not fans of Biergarten- as per the "community seating". We had a nightmare.

We loved Coral Reef last September. The steak was the best I had ever eaten. My kids are about the same age as your children and they really enjoyed the aquarium. They also loved making their own sundaes for dessert.

If you have hibachi style places where you live, pass on Teppan Edo as it will fail miserably by comparison- the food is so-so, the show is basic, and even the kids' meals were strange, though cute in the monorail dishes.

Coral REef is WAAAY loud, we experienced terrible service (and tables around us had even worse issues) but the food was fine. I would say Chefs De France or Le Cellier if you can get the ADR there.

I think Teppan Edo would provide a show for the kids, and still be provide a more adult dining experience. Coral Reef gives the kids the aquarium to help entertain them.

Do Le Cellier or Rose and Crown. The atmosphere at both is great, and very manly. My hubby's faves.

I'd have to vote for Chefs de France! The other one we love, although not at Epcot, is Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge....yummy!! :car: <------wish I was going back right now!!
