I actually saw some really cute trays at Epcot of course it was after we were done sampling food and drinks but I would honestly buy one next time. It would have made the experience much easier.
Depends on how much you're planning to put on it at one time.
I bought two Japanese moon trays (CAD$2 each) for DD and myself. We only needed to use one tray. We decided what to buy at a food booth, then DD would get a table and I bought the food. The tray could hold 3 food items. We shared each item so we could try more. It is easy to hold the tray with one hand and I kept it in my drawstring backpack. We had our own water bottle and only used the tray mainly to buy food items. I would add a layer of those non-slip drawer liners on top for better grip if I have the chance to go again. The small trays they sell at Epcot can only hold one drink and one food item. It's too small for our purpose.

Interesting design. I am extremely familiar with the food service industry(being trained in hospitality/food service management) and have never seen these. It will be just me, but if I am only picking up a couple items from a kiosk, then I may have room enough for some drinks(alcohol) as well from time to time.
Mainly worried about functionality. And handles....can't underestimate the importance of handles.
I generally don't see myself buying more than a couple dishes at each kiosk, but then there is the need for drinks.
Are you going to carry around a tray all day? Keep in mind there are a very limited number of places to put a tray down on to eat. There's only a few little raised tables and trash cans. We consider ourselves lucky if one opens up and we can put our food down to eat.
If you go to the Shop Parks app and look for the Food & Wine items there is an approx 8" square plastic tray with a hole for a drink in one corner that they are selling at F&W. They've had something similar (just a different design) for the past several years. It won't be big enough if you plan to buy five or six items at once. i think it holds about two (maybe three) items and a drink at once.
Found a photo. It's near the end of her photos of F&W merchandise:

And I would not recommend buying more than one or two samples at a time anyways as they cool off quickly unless you're getting something served cold to begin with.
I got soup and steak from Canada and the steak was cold in the minute or two it took to eat the soup and piece of bread.
No I just wouldn't get a number of samples at once. The amount you get really is a small portion served in paper bowls so you should not expect them to stay hot for long.Sounds like we need heated trays.
