Hi Everyone

I usually just read other people's posts. Everyone has such good information and interesting stories. However, my husband just shocked the socks off of me and told me he would be willing to go to Disney's Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT this year. HOLY COW!! We've never been and I keep begging him to go. So I really need your help to plan the best time. All I know is that it starts in the middle of October and ends in the middle of November. When is the best time to go? How long should we stay (we live near Chicago)? What are the best parts to see and do? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. I want to start making plans as soon as possible (i.e. before he changes his mind!).

You will LOVE the food and wine festival! I've been two different times - its my favorite time of the year to go, and the food and wine festival makes it that much more fun. Such interesting selections of food throughout Epcot.

One unique thing I did the first trip I went on during F&W was the Grand Tasting. Its pricey, but so worth it. It features great chefs from all over the world, and interesting wines from all over the world. Every single thing I tried was outstanding. I'd recommend this if you are an adventurous eater. I think you can do it without the wine if you so desire as well.

Hi gene2geno. Welcome to the DIS.

I've never been to the Food and Wine festival. I've never even been to WDW in October :( I truly want to experience this someday, though.

I'm sure our many veterans can help you plan your trip :)

Joan - YES, Yes, Yes!!!!! Mary & I will be going the last week of October. Already have tickets to the MNSSHP on the 26th. We'd love to see you there!!

We love the Food & Wine and I know you will too. Think Taste of Chicago - little booths all around the World Showcase providing a "taste" of foods and wines (and beer) from different countries.

Will you be at the next Club meeting? Or next time you're downtown, maybe we can meet for lunch?

Yes, it is a great time to go. Here is a link to some information

F&W Festival

Even though the food and wine served in the stands that are set up around WS are the same throughout the festival, each week there are different chefs and wineries that come in to do seminars and demonstrations etc.

As mentioned before, the Grand Tastings are great. It is now called the Party for the Senses. There are different chefs and wineries represented at these parties each weekend.

IMO plan to spend the entire 4+ weeks at WDW. That's my goal when I retire.:bounce:

Figment2, we are also going last week of october and we have tickets for the mnsshp for the 26. I have never been in october either and cant wait to try the food and wine festival.

I believe this year is 10/25 - 11/25. BTW, if your husband enjoys really Good beer, 2 years ago they also had SamiClaus and Corsendonk on tap. There were others, but IMO these are the best. I drink both of these at home but never had them on tap before.

Staying at BW, Y&B or S&D is a good idea...

I want to thank everyone for being so helpful!!

Figment2 - We would love to be down there with the two of you. We would have such a great time!! However, our son turns 18 that week. Unfortunately I will not be able to make next month's meeting. I will keep you in mind for lunch the next time I'm downtown though. By the way, what is the MNSSHP?

betterlatethannever - You're someone after my own heart. That's exactly what I have in mind when I retire as well. Thanks for the link!!

Thanks again everyone!!

K- you've just gotta go! There are sooo many tastey things to eat, (I'd pass on eating the gator) and its the perfect environment to meet lots of friendly & wonderful people!

Hope you can make the trip someday! DW and I went last year - our first EF&WF. We were just blown away. The "free" seminars are the best.

Darian

PS We'll be back this October as well.

I really should stop relying on my memory......

I was planning on making a ps for LeCellier for our oct trip, but I think with all I have read about eating all the samples around each place, I would rather do that.

What do you think?
