EPCOT Food & Wine Festival

We went midweek evening last year - and it was all pretty quiet I thought, we didn't encounter any drunk / disorderly people there as well.

I think F&W gets a bit of a bad rep on here for being really busy/drunken - but midweek anyway, it was a very pleasant afternoon/evening.

We will be down Oct 16th-23rd. I was really excited for the F&W festival. Are there usually food and drink stands set up during the week or are most of the activities limited to the weekends?

All the time, from the time WS opens until official closing time. They usually don't operate during EMH though as far as I understand. This is my first time at F&W so I am going by what I have been told/read.

We will be there from 2 - 16 October. :)

I may try and pick out a day that's not gonna be so busy. We're in a group of 4, all of us eighteen and we especially, whilst trying to have fun, don't want to be labelled as part of the loud drinking groups you speak of in your post 'tttessa' - i know how people sometimes pre-judge teenagers as mindless yobs, we're purely going for the experience and not to ruin everyone else's time :)

I have been there the last three years for food and wine and quiet glad it starts the day after we leave.

We had free dining last year and went for a few meals in Epcot in the evenings and they were really busy especially the day with Extra magic hours in the evening

In the day it was fine Epcot is our favourite park and love spending the day there

Like others have said though the drinking is very strict there I havent noticed any drunks in the last two years my first year at food and wine I saw one man in the fountain at the American pavilion drunk he was soon escorted from the park very quickly

mmmmm you've all just reminded me of the gorgeous frozen cocktail I got in the France area with my snails - yum

It was VERY alcoholic tho and I loved getting ID'd - partly as I was 28 and so I could flash my passport with my married name as it was such a novelty on our honeymoon!

We were there on FD and I would suggest not booking any evening meals - it's too tempting! We did Teppan Edo for lunch one day and went around F&W in the evening but it was still a lot of food in one day :goodvibes

F&W is always busy in the evenings (though WS is always busier in the evenings in general because people tend to start in FW and work their way through the park) and weekends should be avoided at all costs as the locals come in to enjoy the festival too and it's mobbed!

We usually have a very very light brekky and then head straight there at 11am and start munching and drinking our way around (I so want to try the Grand Marnier and maybe the Snow Goose Slushie from France too this time, I've heard so much about them!) and leave around 3 for our rest/pool break, then hit a different park in the evening. We then go back the next day, start at 11 again and hit the places we missed the day before. Rinse - repeat.

It's much more effective to visit over several days when it's quiet than try to do it in the evenings, imo.

As an aside, I've never seen anyone blind drunk and I've been to several festivals - I'm sure it does happen but that's another benefit of only going during the day, people don't usually have time to get bladdered by the time I'm leaving the park.

Can someone explain what happens at the food and wine festival? What's on offer? What are the costs involved?
