EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, Sept. 25 - Nov 16 2015

I have a stupid question maybe....I will be there in November.....and am not interested in going to any special ticketed event. Can you just tour World Showcase and still taste the samplings?

Yes, the booths around World Showcase are available to everyone. Each booth will have a menu with the price of individual items.

Yep! That's what I do. Have never done any of the special meals or deminars. I have a great time!

Excellent question. I vote for a new thread so that they don't get lost in this thread.

I agree. And maybe next year we can start several new threads from the beginning: "Booking Issues for Food and Wine" "Booth reviews" "Special Events" etc or something like that.

OK, will do! I'll be there starting this Friday for 8 days, with a big group. I'm not taking my laptop, but I'll have my iPad, so hopefully that will work to post photos in a new thread, and I'll share the link on this thread.
ENJOY F&W! LOOKING FORWARD to some pics!:wave2::cheer2:

We've done that for the past 3 years. But this year, we signed up for the Mediterranean Food and Wine event to finally experience one. And it is one of the cheaper meals that wasn't a deminar.

Wasn't sure where to post this..sorry if I'm in the wrong spot! What does everyone usually bring with them to F&W? This will be my first time! Anything I definitely shouldn't forget to bring with me?
An umbrella and/or raincoat. Umbrellas are tough when it is crowded. But it it is raining, it shouldn't be too crowded. Every time we bring those items, it doesn't rain.

Doing F&W for the first time, but my DH has onion & garlic allergies (poor poor man, lol) so I'm quite nervous about how we're going to do this...

Does anyone have experience with eating at the Festival with allergies? I know they don't do the cooking right there so I'm assuming they can't modify/substitute at all. Most likely going to be VERY slim pickings for him if that's the case.

Do they at least post ingredient lists at each booth?

I used an umbrella last year on one of gully washer rains, otherwise I just use a poncho or rain jacket. With an umbrella the problem is holding your food in one hand the umbrella in another now how do you eat your food? I'm just not that talented.

In some, if not most, cases they do actually cook it right there to order. You might could ask for a sauce not be put on but nope you aren't going to have much luck getting anything modified. They punch the order into the computer, you had your receipt to a person who then tells the cooks/servers what you want. I'm pretty sure there are no options on the computers for substitutes. The best you can do is ask before you order if there are any onions or garlic in the item. He is going to be o.k. with the desserts obviously but I'm thinking most of the booths are going to have one or the other ingredient in their dishes. Is it even possible to make Italian food without either?

No ingredient lists are not posted, but there is a "chef" there who can respond to questions.

Well...I don't really agree. They really are not 'cooking" more like "finishing" The dish is generally at least partially cooked before it hits the park So all they can really adjust is "leave off the sauce"

I always have them leave the onions off some of the items at the booths. Most of the food is pre-cooked and then just finished off as you order. Every booth is supposed to have a book that contains the recipes for the items served at that booth so you will need to have them get the book to look up the ingredients. They usually have the book at the counter where you pick up your food not at the registers where you order so that's where you need to ask before you actually place your order. Certain ingredients can be left off at the booth as they prep your food. Unfortunately Garlic will be a rough one because anything made with it will already have the garlic in it. In some cases the onions are a garnish, relish or sauce added just before they hand you the item.
If you are attending any of the Special Dining events they do go out of their way to make special food for those who have dietary restrictions but they just can't for the booths as they are trying to serve many people rather quickly.
