***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

I think this event is very European and cutting edge in the industry. There are quite a few similarities between the study of perfume and wines. I would love to see the menu.
Tasted

It would probably be a very cool event if you liked smelling all that perfume.
Probably not for me, and I know especially not for my hubby. He doesn't even like walking through the perfume store in EPCOT.

I do bet the menu will be very nice though.

LOL, between hubby and I also. So is it open, sounds like you are saying it isn't. We kept checking every time we went. Don't think we have checked since this past May though, and nothing was going on with it then.

Nope. :( We were there last Thursday and popped in, nothing's changed. I did get a nice Mexican-glass water glass though!

We may or may not be there tomorrow, younger brother is coming up to convert his FL Res Play 4 to a seasonal and we're trying to decide between MK and Epcot. (I'm trying to convince him to pay to get into the water parks, since they'll be EMPTY, but he doesn't want to spend EXTRA money. )

But believe me, we've been dying for a bar inside Mexico for YEARS. I love the atmosphere, but there's much better/cheaper Mexican food elsewhere in Orlando. I'd absolutely pop in for a drink.

Ugh, was hoping they put it together really fast, lol. Guess I should have known better, lol.

We have always thought a bar inside Mexico would be fantastic as well, but, hubby and I do love Tequila and tasting all of them, lol.

Is anyone else going the first weekend? We'll be there 9/24 - 9/30. I'm so disappointed that there is really nothing going on. The price for the Bocuse d'Or Gala is ridiculous, then just the Italy lunch and the one Cook, Book and the Bottle, with a Chef we've never heard of. We've generally gone mid-Festival in past years and had a great experience. I guess we know better for next year. I guess I'm sleeping in on Monday.

I was speaking with a chef at Disney a couple of weeks ago, and he said that Disney did not schedyle many events that first weekend in hopes of bringing interest to the Bocuse d'Or Gala. I honestly think they wouldn't have had any problems. Don't forget there will still be free wine/food tastings that weekend.

And, you know, it may be great going to an event not know the Chef. You might discover someone new!!

Do you have your own car or a rental car? You'll be there during Orlando Magical Dining month.

Some great dining options at prices you probably won't see at Disney. If you're still considering on whether to get a rental or not, check the rates. There are some pretty good deals out there for your time frame. (Mousesavers is a good start place if you're rental car shopping.)

DH just told me the tequila bar is inside San Angel on the right. We will have to check it out soon.

If you like the Cook, Book and Bottle events you should google that chef. He is famous for his low country cooking, I believe. Hubby and I have always wanted to attend one of his events, but are never there the weekends he is.
Give it a shot! You may enjoy it.

The Bocuse thing is so expensive because of the opportunity to meet all those world famous chefs, plus, I am guessing the food/drink will be wonderful. If we were going to be there that weekend, I would definately book that one, just to meet the chefs! Don't know when we would ever have the opportunity to meet/see them all in one place again.

Really, so it is done? Very cool. Can't wait to check it out. Hope they have a good selection of Tequilas. Yippee!

Does anyone know the time for the Champage Brunch? It is listed on the brochure with the other 2 Signature Dinners at 6:30pm-9:00pm. :rotfl: I do not think a brunch is at 6:30pm. They really needed to check the brochure better. I am thinking about taking my mother but I would have to juggle some work days. I also heard the festival guide is just being built into the Epcot map this year. No seperate booklet! How they are going to fit all that stuff on a fold out map I have no idea. Unless there are a LOT less free demos this year:(

I found it 9am-12pm.

Ok, guess we'll be dragging little brother there tomorrow!

We never looked there because CMs always told us that it was going to take the place of the jewelry store.

Someone asked a while back if there was still going to be a walkabout...

Disney website says there is:

"Melbourne, Australia
Explore Melbourne icons such as Federation Square, the intriguing laneways of Melbourne and marketplace scenes from the famous Queen Victoria Market. Meet with the cultural ambassadors, enjoy daily wine seminars, taste wines by the glass at the wine bar and check out Aussie gifts at the shop. Passports are available for purchase for the Wine-Walkabout experience for a tasting tour of the key wine zones of Victoria.

My Louisiana
Explore the regions of Louisiana through the flavors, sights and sounds of the Louisiana Culinary Trails. Experience the rich and unique culture of this great state at the Riverboat dock where entertainers showcase the music of their region. Visit the Cajun Creole inspired house featuring storytelling and activities for the entire family and stop by the French Market to observe local artisans. Learn about the regional cuisine through daily culinary seminars featuring Louisiana dishes featuring seafood, rice and hot sauce."

Wow this is strange. They do note this on the brochure, but I just checked Disney's website and it is not listed.
