***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

[Thanks Lily. We are doing Emerils Tchoup Chop (sp?) and Del Friscos off property. Disney will just get a little less of our money this trip. :-)

Yes I checked at 7:30 nothing. I also still don't see that info for Louisiana & Australia anywhere.:confused3

Webray -- thanks for the information that the Verticals are on Sunday, notwithstanding the brochure text saying Saturdays. They've always been on Saturday afternoons before.

And, to the poster who thinks there is some relationship between perfume and wine, other than that they both smell and France makes some of each, I can't imagine what that would be. France makes a lot of other consumer products and goods, and lots of stuff smells.

If one wants to say that both wine and perfume can be in the luxury goods category, then fine. So can leather goods, couture clothing, Rolls Royces, etc., none of which have anything to do, really, with food or wine.

I stand by my position that anyone with a product to promote who is willing to pay the money can now have a place at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, no matter how totally unrelated to food and wine the product is. The Festival has always been a bit of an advertising- and promotion-heavy event, but perfume is ridiculous.

I also heard the festival guide is just being built into the Epcot map this year. No seperate booklet! How they are going to fit all that stuff on a fold out map I have no idea. Unless there are a LOT less free demos this year:(

Oh now that would be very sad! Last year's guide was 36 pages! I am so discouraged, my last hope was hitting all the seminars & demos!

Looks like just PFTS (10/25) and maybe a City Taste (Victoria or Spain) for us...we're opting to do CG on 10/18 rather than a second PFTS this year..prices for F&W events have really gotten out of hand.

Yes, I am hoping this does not come to pass. I was so annoyed when I heard it but was not in a position to say it was a stupid idea.

It's a good thing I'm not in your position. My mouth often starts before the brain connects. ;)

Do you think the wine tastings & culinary demos are going to be few & far between?

Is anyone else going the first weekend? We'll be there 9/24 - 9/30. I'm so disappointed that there is really nothing going on. The price for the Bocuse d'Or Gala is ridiculous, then just the Italy lunch and the one Cook, Book and the Bottle, with a Chef we've never heard of. We've generally gone mid-Festival in past years and had a great experience. I guess we know better for next year. I guess I'm sleeping in on Monday.

-Lauren

I am feeling your pain, Lauren. :sad2: We are there from September 26-October 1. I am also staying away from the phone on Monday, unless I decide to spend way too much money on the Sweet Sunday event which we have never done before.

In past years we have booked PFTS, wine pairings and Cook, Book & Bottle events. But not this year. The times or the venues or the cost has just made this not a good week to go!

We're in the same boat as everyone else there the first week, there just aren't many choices! We leave the afternoon of Oct 4th, so no PFTS for us.

I'm considering the Kitchen Conversations on 10/2 since it has a brewery instead of a winery which would make DH very very happy. But I've never been to one of those. For anyone who has been, do they make pretty free with the alcohol or is it only a tasting or two? If it's only a tasting or two I probably won't take DH, but if he can have beer 'til his hearts content I'll bring him!

Both contain alcohol lol sorry couldn't resist! I still think its a bit of a weird combination but hey who knows

As a New Orleanian, I can definitely recommend that one! I don't think you'll be disappointed with Tory McPhail & Abita Beer is always in our fridge!

The scheduling is lacking all over the place, not just the 1st week. We don't even have a Kitchen Conv. scheduled for our week, they moved it from a Thurs to a Sat. that week.

Looking at the Disney F&W Site and it says "Be sure to check daily schedules posted in the Festival Center for celebrity appearances, culinary demonstrations (every day except on Mondays and Tuesdays) and daily wine tastings."

This makes me wonder. Do you think that Disney will have daily schedules for the free events? This will stink, there will be no pre-planning.

OMG, I really hope they don't mean that! :sad1:

gismo -- Both perfume and wine contain alcohol!

Great point. Had a good laugh over that. Thanks!
