Is anyone thinking about the French brunch at all?

I doubt that $300 + tax would be worth it for the hubby and I to attend but I have to admit that there's a part of me that's curious and tempted ... but then again it falls on the day that we're planning on drinking around the world and brunch might throw us off our stride. ;)

Meh, I'll wait to read a review from one you fine people .... surely someone here will attend and take pictures and write a review for the rest of us to read??? ;)

I'm definitely curious, but it's on a weekday and all my vacation days are spoken for now, for the year. I hope there's a review, too!

We'll have a big group of loud mid-20s adults drinking around the world on the 1st of Nov. ;)

I copied it from the other thread. I hope that's legal :confused3

I think you are OK! And I, for one, really appreciate that you did it! Unless I can convince DH to do the Sweet Sundays on the 28th we won't be doing any of the special events because there ARE NONE.

 I'm sorry, Elin, I really am. But you will have some terrific dinners to look forward to. :thumbsup2

Very true, Brenda! Very true. We have many new places to try and old favorites we have skipped for a few years. We are very excited!

The whole perfume thing kills it for me - that and the fact that I won't pay over $200 for one event.

I'm torn ... I guess it depends on what is or isn't still open when we get home on Monday.

Too bad we'll miss your group. There will be a loud party of 2 (yes, 2) middle aged dinks drinking around the world on October 14th ... :thumbsup2

I know ... it's weird and doesn't make any scents ( couldn't resist ) at all and yet I'm intrigued and wondering what Bistro could do with a three-hour signature event for breakfast even if the speaker has nothing to do with food. I may have a hard time swaying the hubba on this one anyway ... he's leaning more towards the lunch on Sunday afternoon.

Alrighty ... you all have a lovely weekend and thanks for all the great information and fun times. We're headed out early tomorrow morning and won't be back until Monday. Try to save a few events for us, OK? :lmao:

Good luck on Monday morning! :wizard:

I just saw this on the Walt Disney World News .. all you Robert Irvine people!

Looks like I'm going to cancel my Friday V&A ressie and stick with the Sunday one with TDCNala and her mom.

The only things that interest me are:

10/16 Kitchen Conversations with Robert Irvine (or not)
10/18 Party for the Senses
10/19 French Regional Lunch

I was debating the City Tastes but decided against it. Same with the sushi and sake pairing if I tag along with TDCNala and her mom. I'll be forking over lots of money at V&A. I'm going to include the wine pairings. I'll be spending a lot less money on the food and wine events this year than I did last year.

Well its 9am in the UK and there is nothing as yet appearing on the website so I guess itll be a little later before we see it in print so to speak (I can't view the booklet on here as my internet access in work doesn't allow me to :scared: )

Cool...that is excellent. Also, at the bottom it says the new Tequila bar in mexico is open. Wow!!!

So, are the Vertical Tastings on Saturday or Sunday? The text says "Saturdays", but the dates listed are all Sundays.

Didn't anyone proofread the brochure before sending it to the printer??!

Good grief.

I saw that in a press release a few weeks ago somewhere - the tequila bar is starting to become a running joke between DH and I, every time we go now.

"Let's go check if they started the work on the tequila bar yet!"

"You know they haven't..."

"Come onnnnnn"

And they haven't.

Maybe it'll be a temporary stand somewhere?

The perfume event confirms it for me -- if anyone (anyone!) will come to the Festival and sponsor -- and pay for -- an event, they'll get their five minutes of Festival Fame.

Next year I expect to see the Louis Vuitton brunch, the Gucci Italian wine tasting, the Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnick "walk-abouts", etc. Previously, they've sometimes had these product promotions -- The Reidel Crystal events of a few years ago come to mind, but at least they were related to wine. The Reidel Crystal event was great, of interest to wine lovers and we enjoyed it -- but we're definitely skipping the perfume brunch.

Sonsorship is one reason I think we still see a good number of Kitchen Conversations and Cook, Book and the Bottle events -- because the cookbook authors come and, I'm assuming, the publishers pay for the events in order to promote the books.

I guess no one was willing to sponsor the Exquisite Evenings. Disney would have had to pay for the portion not covered by the attendees itself. OMG. No way. Have to reserve all spare change to keep paying gazillions to Bob Iger.

And, I don't view the French Regional lunches as an adequate substitute for the Exquisite Evenings. They are three courses with wine -- exactly what you get at the Food and Wine Pairings, only the lunches are $135 per person vs. $55 per person for the F&W Pairings.

Will someone please bring back the much-maligned Michael Eisner? At least he appreciated the uniqueness of the Disney brand and seemed to actually care about the Disney name and legacy. The current crop of managers seems to be strictly bean counters. What a shame.

I have a question for those that have booked special events in the past. I know that PFTS doesn't sell out that first day because of the venue size. What about everything else. I'm interested in one of the Sweet Sundays but want to use my bonus money to pay for it. I won't get that until Friday 8/29. Am I probably going to be outta luck?

I think this event is very European and cutting edge in the industry. There are quite a few similarities between the study of perfume and wines. I would love to see the menu.

This is exactly what I thought all along and never had a problem with the pairing of wine & perfume. It actually makes a lot of sense. Still deciding if we are going to go - if we do, I'll write a review. :goodvibes

LOL, between hubby and I also. So is it open, sounds like you are saying it isn't. We kept checking every time we went. Don't think we have checked since this past May though, and nothing was going on with it then.

You shouldn't be out of luck, but then again, you can never tell.
We know people who have booked "sold out" events the week before.
We booked a Cook, Book and Bottle last year a couple days before we drove up.
