Does anyone know why Epcot had a fireworks at 1am (the wee hours this morning, June 23)?

We were awakened in our home (we're 3 minutes outside the back of Disney) to the sound of very loud fireworks from Epcot. It was definitely not the usual IllumiNations show, but a much more elaborate fireworks presentation. Anyone know what was going on?

Getting ready for the July 4th fireworks, maybe a test run of them?? Just a guess! :confused3

My dh who works at the Dolphin, mentioned just the other day that they are working on a new fireworks show and testing it after midnight at Epcot this week.

That's all the info I have! Hope that helps!

Thank you Emmaline Lola. Good to know. No sleep for Epcot's neighbors this week, hey?

It looked interesting, with a couple of heart-shaped fireworks, but WOW was it loud!!

We'll be at Epcot on the 4th - looking forward to seeing the new show. Heart shaped, huh? Wow.

Where the heck do you live? You're lucky.

They were testing out the J4 "tag" with music and visuals.

Im sure it was preparations for the upcoming show. While they may not have been running the 4th of July show they may have been testing new shells for the show or computer components.

Also it's really cool sometimes if during illuminations certain fireworks dont launch they will launch them out late at night before taking the floats back for the night. We were there during a very hard rain and many shells didnt go off and later that night at our resort we sure heard them.

That was our last night at the Boardwalk. From our room we were able to view the fireworks from Illuminations. We had a message on our phone that they would be testing a new fireworks show sometime between 11pm and 1am. It started about 12:50am and it was really an awesome display. Much different than the Illuminations fireworks.

When we were at BCV on 6/21, they left a message on our phones saying they would be testing the the July 4th show between 11:30 and 12:30. Around 12:45 they started going off so loud that I heard a car alarm go off in the parking lot. Now we were pretty close, but that is going to be quite a show on the fourth! :earsgirl:
