When it first came out, it was advertised as Disney's dream but nowadays as it become his nightmare in your opinion?

I'm sure it makes a ton of money with the food and drinks
But to me, we are done going there

Well his dream was a utopian city where actual people would live actual lives and work at an actual job.

Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow

So, no, EPCOT was not Walt Disney's dream. It is two separate parks that were not good enough on their own. So during the new-theme-park design phase Disney (the company, not the man) just put the two models next to each other and called it a theme park. I have no idea why they used the name EPCOT since it has zero resemblance to Walt's vision.

I think even if he would have gotten his way it wouldn't have worked. It's an outdated, and run down park. It needs TLC, and they're busy working on AK & DHS, which I feel the latter needs it more. In the meantime, the world showcase and restaurants will pull the crowds to this area. Was it what he imagined? Nope, not even close, but it's hardly a nightmare.

I love Soarin' and I think the new Test Track is great. I wish they would do something with the empty buildings in Futureworld. I am eager to see what the Maelstrom-Frozen redo will be like. I still love World Showcase. [And I miss a good ride featuring Figment.]

I still think World Showcase is the most impressive and unique area in any Disney Park.

(I do not like the most recent changes-Canadian Lumberjacks replacing WS institution OK and the Frozenation of Norway however.)

Definitely not a nightmare, when somebody puts a favorite park poll on these boards it's usually a close second to MK even with MK getting new attractions and Epcot getting mostly ignored. The two festivals and the WS will pretty much keep this park in second place, and as somebody said WS is probably one of the most popular and unique places anywhere in WDW so if Disney would actually go out and spend some money into a few new attractions in Futureworld and maybe add a country or two it wouldn't surprise me to see Epcot topping MK as favorite park in WDW.

I love Epcot! I don't think it's a nightmare. Out of all the parks I go to Epcot first and then MK. Even on days we go to HS or AK we go to Epcot at night. We're staying at Boardwalk so we can be close to Epcot for our December trip. When I was a teenager and Epcot was new it was my favorite and it still is today!

I would agree that its time to give this park more attention, but with what seems to be going on at DHS and AK with all the new renovations and the updates at MK it seems like its last on the list besides Frozen in Norway. Updating Soarin is great news and hopefully its more than just an added theater maybe an updated movie too? Even then its just updating and nothing brand new.

We still spend a day at this park, almost like its required but as our family changes we spend less time there each trip. I'm sure if we went on an adults only trip we'd spend more time in World Showcase but as a true family experience, only MK really requires a full day or more for us to ride all we want. It's not a lost cause though and I'm sure there are ideas in the works and it will all fall into place someday. Until then we'll always have future world (a look to the past).

EPCOT needs a Tommorowland touch up is all. I mean it is supposed to be Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Plus they need to put something in the vacant buildings or tear them down.

Epcot is one of our favorite parks. Yes, it needs to be spruced up, but IMO, AK and DHS do as well, and of teh three, Epcot has been able to hold it's own in terms of keeping folks all day long, with DHS and AK are still classified by many as 1/2 day parks. Nightmare? Not for us.

I LOVE EPCOT . . . but, I can totally see where the op is coming from. Let's face it, the park needs some attention. The lumberjack show, I've only ever had the honor of seeing on Youtube, and that was more than enough. I love Figment, but Imagination needs to show some imagination, the entire pavilion is well beyond it's years. Too many empty buildings in future world. I don't really think it is a nightmare, but it is a shadow of what it once was.

what Walt had planned, and what the theme park world have done are two very separate things!

World Showcase makes a lot of money for Disney and i personally love food and wine, flower and garden, holidays around the world everything is awesome at world showcase!
the future world does need a little TLC i love the new test track its very modern now.
figment could do with some TLC now and bring him back to former glory
Ellen's energy show is good, but could do with updating, maybe cast of big bang theory could be used here to make science fun, bill nye is very dated now

but all in all i love Epcot, not adverse to change but Epcot is my favorite park, admit i have no kids, and when i travel its all adults so Epcot appeals to us and i'm a foodie lover so i love the culinary displays during food and wine and love the atmosphere, people always mention the ''bad side'' of this park on a nighttime, i've never noticed it and i can imagine if i could notice it so could Disney security and they would handle it smoothly i'm sure.

on the side of updating, i again think they are kind of starting to do this with the Frozen attraction, lets hope we see some nice disney attractions.

im reserving judgment on the frozen attraction mainly because when snow white ride was torn down in MK people were upset but as soon as 7DMT appeared it was loved so im hoping the frozen ride can join this bandwagon and surprise everyone

It has always been our favorite park since the day it opened and my son was a little tyke. It still is, yes they could do some work on future world but I still love the place. For us, (adult son and mom) MK is actually our least favorite park and is a half day park for us. HS is our second favorite but we don't go so much for riding as just plain atmosphere.
