Epcot Character Spot questions...

So after numerous recommendations I canceled our ADR at Chef Mickeys on our MK day and switched it to Whispering Canyon. We still want to at least get a pic with Mickey so I set one of our fast passes for the Epcot Character Spot on our Epcot day. According to everything I've read, Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto are there. My question is, how do you know what times they are there? Fastpasses are set for a certain hour. What if Mickey is on his "lunch break" or something. Also, is there someone there to take our group picture using our cameras or do we have to plop down a tidy sum of money to purchase Disney's picture. Sorry, I know some of these are probably obvious but I've never been there before. Another thing, we are 4 older adults. Is this a kids only type of thing or do adults do it as well?

When I did it last year Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy were there. There was a Photopass photographer with each character...they will take photos with your camera. I actually did the character spot twice on the same day. The first time I had a Fastpass. It was me, my sister, four of our friends and their children. The second time it was just my sister and me so it's definitely not a kids only type of thing. As a matter of fact, the first time with the Fastpass was the only time we did any of the character meets with the kids. Every other one was just my sister and me.

As far as I know it's basically an all day option. The FP just have a time because that's how FP work. You can walk up to the building any time during park hours and get in line...the wait can get pretty long though.

There are PP photogs and character handlers that can take your pic using your camera. We're just two adults and we did this.

As a side note, when we went, we met Mickey Minnie and Goofy, no Pluto.

They are always there, they just sometimes take a 5 min break. You just wait for them to come back. Love the FP for that meet and greet.

Also they have at MK the circus ones, with Minnie, goofy, Donald and Daisy. Lines tend to not be that long since they are kind of hidden in the back in a building.

Just ask cast member to take your pictures

It's Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy. Last time we were there, we had to wait for about a minute while Minnie went in the back, to "check on something in the oven" ;) You will see all three :)

yes they are all ways there you go in one line and hit each one I think they all take a break at the same time for about 5 minute and they will stop the line for this yes there is a person to take your pictures and you are more then welcome to give them your phone/ camera

if the Micky at the front of the MK dose not have a long line I would stop in there too as he talks and can be a fun thing to do

It is definitely not a child only thing, I have gone with only adults before. In the back of MK is Pete's Silly Circus. There are 2 lines to see characters there, Minnie/Daisy and Goofy/Donald. Each character meets separately one after the other and is dressed in a Circus outfit. The background for each character is also highly decorated with actual object and it makes a nicer picture. The Mickey in the front of MK is in a formal outfit. The characters at the character spot are in traditional outfits.

This is great. It sounds like we won't have to wait too long using our fastpasses, we can see them in their "normal" outfits instead of the chef outfits, and we can save $50/head and get a better meal by going to Whispering Canyon instead of Chef Mickey's.

Whispering Canyon was fun and I think you'll really enjoy that along with the Character Spot. Best of both worlds and a money saver too!

The photographers at any photopass spot are very happy to use your camera or phone to take a photo.

Just something to think about, though -- Memory Maker is now $149. Purchasing MM allows you to download any Photopass pics from your entire trip. This includes character interactions, photos around the parks, and ride photos and videos. With four adults, you are talking less than $40 per person, and you can end up with dozens of photos over the course of a visit. We purchased it for the first time last month and really had fun searching out the photographers. I am the family photog, so I'm usually not in any pics. This way we have many great shots from each park of all of us.

Just something to consider!
