Epcot: Best value at counter service restaurants?

We don't have alot of time this trip so are planning mainly counter service. We've eaten cs in England and China and found the servings small! America and Morocco were better. Any opinions? Thank you.

We have never been, but have heard that the Fish & Chips in UK are pretty good. I think you can get it counter service.

Go to the bakery in France for a delightful dessert.

We never miss the counter service restaurant in Japan-- but I can't think of the name! We always get the udon soup!

I like the chicken fingers basket at th electric umbrella at Future world but it isn't really exciting. we've also found that early lunches at the table service restaurants are often quick, so you might not have to stick to counter service.

For larger portions, I would probably say that Morocco, China, and Japan have the biggest. My personal favorite is France, but then again, I'm not really into large portions.

I vote to check out the food court in The Land. There are lots of choices.
We ate there in May at the pasta and potato area. I was very pleased for the counter service quality and variety. I wasn't expecting much and thought it was very good.

A new item we tried on our most recent trip was the smoked ham sandwich on pretzel bread at Germany's Sommerfest counter service. It was around $4 & we thought it was great (thanks to someone on this board for the suggestion!!). They also have a soup of the day for under $3. One meal at the food court in the land I feel is a pretty good deal is the cheese & bacon baked potato combo meal, which also includes a side salad & Tollhouse cookie for around $6.25.

We really like the Cantina in Mexico. I always enjoy the taco salad, kids like the burritos and nachos. You can order items and share them and definitely don't need a whole entree per person to fill up. Margaritas are great there too.

We had the combination plate at the Cantina in Mexico and it was outstanding, and plenty of food for 2 adults. It was a great deal.

I also had the plato de combinacion at the Cantina de San Angel. It was a large amount of food which included a beef burrito, chicken taco, quesidilla,salsa and refried beans. The total was about eight dollars and as stated above two could share it easily.

Try the restaurant at Norway [Restaurant Akershus]. Unless the park is crowded and/or it's eating time on the dot, you may not have to wait at all. And it's a buffet, so you don't have to wait long to be served. [And serving size won't be an issue ... until you try to waddle back out thru the doors after you've finished.]

And the food is great! [Beware that I'm not a con-no-sewer or anything like that!]

Around $12 lunch or $18 dinner, I think.

Don't miss the cream of mushroom soup! Or the shrimp salad. Or the smoked salmon and mackeral, or *any* of the meat dishes [pork, lamb, beef]. Or the meatballs!!!

Or the school bread.

Oh, desserts, too! Especially the rice cream!!!!!!

Good thing it's only 2 weeks til I'm there again ... I'm getting hungry!

Yes, the fish and chips stand is just a window you walk up to and place your order. There are a few (but not many) wrought iron tables nearby.

The fish and chips stand is located on the right just as you enter the UK coming from the direction of France and the International Gateway. This is one of my favorite "fast food" stops in EPCOT, and apparently I'm not alone, as the line there can get pretty lengthy at times.

I strongly agree with this recommendation...Akershus is one of my favorite restaurants at WDW. (I have a PS there for my upcoming trip.) And it is a particularly good value at lunch, especially if you are really hungry! As your description might indicate, I think their selection does favor us carnivorous types more than the vegetarian types. When I think of the items there that keep me coming back, they are mostly meat items.

Polk, I notice you are from Homewood...I grew up in Birmingham, although I've lived in NC for about a dozen years now. I still miss B'ham at times...

for us - try the shogun combination platter. alot of food.

Another vote for both the UK (fish and chips) and the taco salad at the Cantina. But for a desert choice, for both taste and bang for the buck, try the beaver tail in Canada.

A funny story: We're from Central PA, a short drive from Hershey Park. Last time we got the maple chocolate beaver tail, I noticed they were putting Hersey's syrup on. We discussed this with the two young Canadian girls working the stand, who informed us gleefully that they were looking forward to going on vacation (I guess from their job in Disney) at Hershey Park. Go figure.

Appendix: when they're selling it, the cheddar soup in Canada is a heck of a counter deal, too.
