Hi! Are the Epcot Area resorts pretty noisy in the mornings on Marathon Weekend? Does anybody have experience with staying at any of these resorts as a non-runner on race days?

We were at YC over FW marathon weekend. The resort itself wasn't impacted notably to my eye, but there ARE inconveniences wrt getting around the mornings of any race, so I would recommend doing parks you can walk/boat to those days. Also, going to Epcot the Monday after the race was INSANE at the IG entrance, though the park impact from a different marathon might be different. I was in line 30 min before early entry and missed all but 5 min of early entry.

Thank you! I was mostly referring to noise in the morning from the races themselves. Can you hear the announcements/music/fireworks super early in the morning?

We had a Boardwalk view at BWV for MW several years ago, and yes indeed, we could hear! I'm not sure how loud it was in other parts of BWV, for example villas facing the pools.

A little? Very dull. I am a very light sleeper, though, so use noise interrupting ear buds. My husband doesn’t recall any, however.

We stayed at YC several years ago during the marathon. We heard fireworks when each coral ( I think that’s what they’re called) was started. Wasn’t horrible, but we definitely were woken up.

We stayed at BCV Marathon Weekend. DH was running the Dopey, but I was a non-runner. I never heard anything at that hour of the morning from the runners, although I did hear a little from the loudspeakers when the runners took off. Nothing that would prevent me from staying there again (even if we were both non-runners).

Been running Marathon weekend since 2006, mostly the 1/2 and marathon. The only noise you might hear is from low level fireworks for the race start for each corral and the announcers counting down the start. My experience outside of when I'm not running is little to no disruption. This would be for the 5K and 10K. I'll also add that the weather, humidity and wind direction play a factor in the noise or lack of it. Bottom line, it's not very noisy and whatever noise there is will be limited. I'm also now retired from running due to my achilles rebelling, but still enjoy spectating. It's a great time of year to visit, running or not!

We were at the BC during the Princess half marathon and we could hear the starting fireworks and music that morning. Our room was really close to Epcot.

This. And there are also spectators (some with cow bells) cheering runners on. It can also make getting to the bakery a bit of a hassle. They purposefully start the races early to get the runners through before the parks open but in the case of the marathon, runners are still in the park during operating hours. I believe EPCOT is the last park and it made entering via the IG and navigating that part of the park difficult while the race was happening, but also unique and cool to be able to cheer the runners on. Also, not sure you could walk to HS for park open as they use that path.

I was looking at moving things around so we went to Epcot on the Monday after the races instead of a Saturday during FW. Do you know why the IG was bad the day after the races? Was Epcot crowded all day? I don’t want to make moves and then get burned! Thanks!!

Post says they were there over “FW” weekend. If that means they were there for the Food & Wine Festival race weekend in early November, that race often occurs at the start of Jersey Week or/and Veterans Day week, both of which bring crowds to the parks. January Marathon Weekend is between the end of Christmas/New Year’s holidays and before MLK weekend, so that Monday isn’t as bad because more people are on their way home. IOW, crowds right after a race week can be related more to which holiday is coming up, rather than the race itself.
