I just finished addressing all the save the date cards for my DS wedding. For the return address should I hand write that and if so would I put

Mr. and Mrs Happypants
Main Street
Disneyworld, FL 00000
or
Happypants
Main Street
Disneyworld, FL 00000
or
can a I use a gold pre-printed address label?

Thanks! trying to get these out today!

I think for save the date you can use address labels.

I would do Mr. and Mrs. Happypants.

Yep, label those suckers. We used the clear ones and only did the address, no name. I couldn't find anything indicating what it needed to say and we bought actual return address labels, so they were TINY. I didn't feel like shrinking the text so much that you couldn't read it just to get a name on there.

For save-the-dates labels are fine. I would put "Mr & Mrs Happypants" too because just "Happypants" indicates the whole family is invited. But even if kids are going to be invited you should put "Mr & Mrs Happypants & Family".

Opps, guess I should clafiry. I already addressed (by hand) the envelopes. This would be the return label (the ones with our name and addy)

I would use the labels and I would do Mr and Mrs.....

return address on save the dates? Definately labels. And I don't think it matters if it is Mr & Mrs or just lastname. Which ever fits on the label better and "balances" the lettering best gets my vote.

I don't know where I've been, but I've never heard of save the date cards until I received one in the mail yesterday. I thought, wow what a cool idea. Although I wouldn't want to address those babies and invitations too. Now I come to the Dis and it appears everyone already knew about them. Is this a new fad?

For the return address the hosts of the event are listed. If your parents are throwing the wedding then they go on the return address. If you and your fiance are throwing the wedding then your names (ie: Ms. Mary Smith and Mr. Bob Jones) are used.

Save the date cards/letters are typically used for out of state/province/country/ family and friends who would require more planning say then the typical person being invited such as your high school chum who still lives in the same area as you.

It provides two things...time for the person invited to plan (hotels, budget etc) and time for people to decline gracefully if they know they can't make it.

Also used in the event of the popular destination wedding.

DH had family in England (about 10% of our guest list was in the UK) so we used these asap to be sure that they had ample time to see if they could come.

Well, I went with the return address labels. I hand wrote the addressee part. When it's time to do the actual invitations then I'll hand write both the addresee and return address.
