Entitled "celebrity" gets sick on DCL

That's the thing, it didn't seem entitled at all? She wasn't demanding anything, just complaining. And not even about the cruise itself. Perhaps there was more on Instagram stories, but those delete, so all I see is a picture of her complaining about being sick.
Right? I did not see anything where she was say “Hey Disney you better give me a refund on my cruise” I think all of us have complained before, that’s one of the main purposes of DIS 😜

And by her publicly discussing her loss, maybe she helped others in a similar situation…
I have a very good friend who lost her daughter at 36 weeks. She continues to speak out about it ten years later because child loss so stigmatized. Sadly, she lost several friends because they said it was "too sad" to hear her talk about it all the time. :(

That’s awful…both the situation and people’s reaction

Her youngest was born January 13, 2023 so definitely less than 6 months old. I could take her or leave her but she is a celebrity....she was even a guest of honor at the Met Gala the other night. I don't begin to guess what constitutes a celebrity LOL.

I just don't understand why her youngest was able to sail.....I want my new grandbaby to sail with us but they won't be 6 months until after our planned cruise..........what gives DCL?

John Legend worked for Disney. They probably asked: we want to cruise now. Can we?

Disney:
Sure, as long as you sign this paper we are not responsible in case anything happens with the 3 month old baby.

John Legend probably can afford a dozen helicopters to transport a sick baby back to land or maybe they brought the best doctors in the land with them.

As long as they don't demand, it is not entitlement 😉

Something like that.

Yes to what you said. Minimum age if an infant appears to be cruise line Policy, not law. Three days away from land is often the limit - it’s the reason for the increased age in Transatlantic sailings.

Young children can go downhill quickly - and fatally. Cruise lines do not want the financial or public relations risk. Similar to sailing while pregnant. As a society, the death of a child on a ship seems more upsetting than that of an 80-year old fulfilling their life-long dream, but succumbing to a heart attack while at sea. It’s public perception.

If you can afford to be responsible for your own airlift - and are famous (yes, they are - to a certain demographic, like those who might read People magazine) you, too, can have policies and expectations waived. It’s the history of mankind (Well, not the airlift).

I can’t believe people are making excuses for entitled celebrities skirting the rules that the rest of us stiffs have to adhere to.
It's not an excuse, it's how society is. Those in power have more options. That's how it always was, that's how it always is. Similar to how handsome people make more money, get things done more easily, are liked more easily.
Totally unfair? Yes.
Will this ever change? No.

As long as they don't play the 'do you know who I am'-card or expect exceptions, it's not entitlement in my books. And as we do not know, let's give them the benefit of the doubt. Even when they are celebrities ;-)

Being rich and famous doesn't make you immune to sickness. Everyone is allowed to feel bad when they are sick.

No excuses. Just reality. And not the hill I am ready to die on.

The article was a fluff piece. Her thoughts are not changing my opinion of Disney cruises. And the write-up of their attire will not be influencing my clothing choices. The article was not written for those I know. Nor are the sentiments expressed within. Nothing she said was a shock, from other mentions of her. It has bought her another 15 minutes+ of fame, just in this thread. Somebody now knows who she is. That ends up being monetized. And the cycle continues.

(This is supposed to be tongue in cheek): What they didn’t know/ think to ask, was which suite they were in - did it have a piano - and did John play it? Did they eat all their meals in the suite? Seriously, what aspect of a Disney cruise did they actually get to enjoy (with or without a stomach bug)?

I don’t have a clear memory of a celebratory on a public cruise - private yachts are more common (there’s an oxymoron). Disneyland and WDW - definitely.

I thought about this too—how much were they able to be in the public areas of the ship or were they pretty much stayed holed up in their suite. I would imagine security would be an issue. Could you imagine if they tried to eat in Arendalle? That would be a mob scene. Were their kids able to go to the kids club or use the pools? Could they go to any public entertainment like Pirate night or a show? Being a celebrity has its obvious perks, but there are some downfalls. They can’t just go in public and do normal things like the rest of us can.

"people.com"

You really shouldn't be on those websites; they'll rot your brain!

But really, it's just a tabloid using a famous person and "Disney" in the headline together to generate clicks. Think nothing of it.

The number of people criticizing her after her stillbirth (it was after 20 weeks) was really disgusting. People HATED her back then because she DARED post pictures of her holding her dead baby. She didn't grieve the "proper" way, privately, and people despised her for that.

So, I'm entitled to give her the benefit of the doubt here.

ETA: She posted on social media after she got back. Big deal? I post on social media when I get back from cruises, too.

And I vividly remember being extremely nauseous while pregnant but needing to eat because if I didn't, I'd get more sick. It sucks! I don't blame her for complaining. If people don't like it, don't follow her. It's very easy to mute people on social media. 🤷‍♀️
I am going to jump in on this one. You are completely right. As someone who had a stillborn child at 23 weeks I was actually very grateful that she was open and shared. It is not something that is talked about often. It is why I am open about it because maybe I can help someone else like I know she did. I don't really like her that much but she has every right to chat/complain about how she got sick after the cruise. It happens.
