My family and I plan on rope dropping HS and the day we are there is a weekend so expecting major crowds. I don’t want to hold them up in the morning by stopping at Guest Relations for my DAS pass.

Can they go off shopping while I’m doing this at GR? Will the CM be able to link them to my DAS if I have their park passes? Or do they need to be there for this?

but from what I understand you will need their tickets/bands to get them linked
This is sometimes not necessary if they are linked as family and friends in MDE, but best to bring them with to save having to go and come back again. I know in our case when DH went, he didn't need them.

Pre-covid I’ve never needed all the other bands from my family, they were automatically linked. Is this new?

No.
It‘s not new. Pre-Covid, some people were able to get their family members linked with only the other people’s tickets/Magicbands. Others were told they needed the people to be there.

Currently, Guest Relations is asking that only the person requesting the DAS and one other person actually come into Guest Relations, along with the other people’s tickets/Magicbands. They may be able to link if all the people are part of the group in My Disney Experience - still safer to bring the Magicbands/tickets.

Thank you both- this is good to know as we have never been asked to do this before. I’ve always gone alone and had my family automatically added. I will bring all the bands with me when I go as not to waste time. Better to be safe than sorry! .

I have had both happen. They were able to add people on my MDE friends list when possible, but sometimes the system gives them problems. I would have their bands or cards just in case
