So we haven't been sick the entire school year with some pretty nasty bugs floating around in our area. We're 23 days out so it shouldn't be an issue but, c'mon man!

This isn't near as bad as last year when our DD6 got ear and sinus infections 2 days prior to our family vacation at DL.

What sort of Murphys Law examples have you all experienced prior to a planned vacation?

One year my DS had strep throat a few days before our trip. Thankfully, he was on antibiotics long enough by the time we left to be cleared, but he still had to finish the Rx on vacation. (I consoled myself with the thought that at least it probably kept him from getting anything else while we were there.)

Another year, I had pink eye just before we left. Again, thankfully, I got it treated in time, but I was still in the window where I had to wear my glasses instead of my contacts for most of the trip, so it is forever remembered in the pictures.

Let's see when I was 4 (first trip) I got hives from penicillan for an earache or something on the flight down. Then last year my 1 yo got pink eye and I lost my voice 2 days before. Still had fun though!

Well its a relief knowing we're not the only ones who have had unforeseen adventures added to our vacations!

Now I am hoping that with the recent news of the Zika Virus going around in the Caribbean we don't catch that either! Going to have to pack the waterproof DEET protection...:crutches:

It happens, and it's winter. The flu season this year apparently has been quite rough. Just keep everyone's hands washed and don't touch your face.

This is not a disney trip, but my ds (11) is a swimmer. We are from michigan and we were heading to Louisville, kentucky for a swim meet. He got swimmers ear a few days before we left. He was told no swimming for 2 weeks. He wasn't having that, so we bought ear plugs and double capped him. LOL! He ended up with a state time at that meet.

Our very first trip to DW my daughter was sick. Turned in to walking pneumonia while we were at the park. That sucked.

We leave next week and all three of us have nasty colds. This is like the fifth cold I've gotten this school year. I'm a teacher. Dd is in preschool. Terrrible!

My whole household has been sick literally since the calendar turned to 2016. By the time our trip comes in April, I think we will have paid our dues. Please God, please.

I plan on making my entire family take capsules with Oregano oil & Thieves oil daily the week prior to our trip. We don't get sick very often, but I just want to make sure!

While it wasn't a vacation, last week was my moms funeral and I was sick and had no voice and DH had an awful cough and we found out later that a couple people tested positive for the flu a few days later. Not how we had planned! LOL

When I was around 10, I got Chicken Pox before we went on our vacation. I was on the recovery end of it and no longer contagious, but I still had some of the sores and scabs that you get. Of course, I had a younger brother. And guess who caught it 1/2 way through the vacation? He spent 1 day in the hotel with the worst of it, and then my parents threw a long brimmed Goofy hat on him and let him in the parks. He was five, so he spent a lot of time in the rented stroller. It wasn't the best decision, and we probably got tons of kids sick back then.

As some karma, we always get some sick gunk that we bring home from Disney. Last year, everyone got the flu, with the exception of my SIL. We used to laugh at her use of hand sanitizer, but we don't anymore! If you do get sick, there are tons of minute clinics nearby Disney. My mom brought me to one and I got a flu pack to help with symptoms.

So, battle through, but the best thing to do is use good handwashing techniques, try not to stress or stay out too late, get good rest if possible, and (as much as I hate to say it), use that hand sanitizer. Bath and bodyworks has some yummy scented ones!

By the way, it was my mom, the clinical nurse-midwife, and my dad, the pharmacist, who let my brother wander around with the chicken pox. You would think they would have known better!

Thats funny and not funny all at the same time. :scared:

:rotfl2:

Parents back "in the day" probably thought this, "Its for the best" or "helps build immunity"!

It WAS the 80's after all. And hey, most of those kids should have gotten the pox by then, right?

:rolleyes1
We still do regret it though. Bad, bad medical parents!

One year my DH sprained his ankle the night before we left for WDW!
Slowed us down a bit, but was a nice change of pace from the break neck speed we usually take :crutches:
