This was our first - and maybe only - trip. We had three good days, had dinner at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review, and 2 hours later we were all very, very sick. We spent the next three days in our room with no food in complete misery. We finally had to have a doctor come to the room. I have never been so sick in all my life. Our flight home yesterday was pure misery. I am still so sick that I can't function. I haven't had anything to eat since Saturday. If I wasn't so dehydrated I would cry. This trip cost a fortune. We were on the dining plan, so we lost tons of money in uneaten meals. Father's Day was the worst day of all. We don't know if it was food poison or stomach virus, but either way our trip was the worst ever. Our seven year old said, "Mom, they are wrong. Disney isn't the Happiest Place on Earth. Home is. Can we please go home?"

This was our only summer vacation. I am very depressed.

I'm so sorry. That sounds like my vacation nightmare that I'm always sure is bound to happen. I would be bummed about the money, too.

I hope you get to go again soon and make up the magic you missed!

Oh dear, I feel so badly for you.

:grouphug:

:sad1: I am so sorry for you and your family! I hope you all recover real soon.
What a downer.

Thanks everybody. Hopefully we will feel better soon. I am going to try to get us all doctor's appointments tomorrow for some IV fluids. That should help some. Now I am going back to bed. :sad1:

The worst thing is that our four year old wanted to watch the Disney Travel Channel specials that we taped before our trip. We watched them over and over today. It was so depressing to see all that we missed, and to know that we can't afford another trip for years.

Oh, what a horrible and sad situation, I am soooo sorry your trip was ruined :(

What did the doctor say???

This has always been my nightmare :scared1: ...to get to WDW and get sick. I was so sick last weekend in Maine at my niece's graduation and I too, thought it was food poisioning...not sure NO ONE else was sick but me. But as the eve into morn progressed I did feel better...hence the food again...?? I thought I would have to stay alone in the hotel while everyone went to the graduation and then tell housekeeping not to clean the room...but I did feel good enough to go to the ceremony... :confused3 !!!

OP: Will you ever find out if this was a stomach flu or food poisioning? :confused3 Did you all eat the same food? :confused3

So sorry :sad1: to hear of your horrible week at the World....please tell your kids that is NOT what WDW is about at all. That something just crept into all your systems which forced you to miss Mickey and the Gang...some day soon you
will be back!!! ::yes::

Our trip went about the same as yours, but we were fortunate enough to be sick one at a time. We got to WDW 6/02 and DD12 was sick by the next night, we were able to get her out of the room a couple of days later in a wheelchair as she had no energy. Then I got it the next morning and have never felt so bad. We ended up in urgent care with fever of 104. and double ear infections and strep throat. Then it just went through the rest of the family, except they got vomiting and stomach cramps too. It was awful.
With 6 people it takes a while to work its way out of the family.

I know how you feel. We have not been to Disney since 1998 and saved for years for this trip. I am still having a hard time letting go of the depression, after all the dreams and plans I had. Usually I can let go, but this vacation was a huge deal to all of us and it is difficult :sad2:

I hope you all feel better soon. Please keep us posted as to how you are all doing. Take care.

That's terrible. I hope it wasn't the HDDR food ... but gosh it sure sounds like it! Please do try to go back someday ... you so got gypped out of a great vacation.

I feel soo bad for you and your family. What a rotten memory of Disney to have. It would be interesting to find out what caused it. It does sound like food poisoning because you all got sick at the same time. Usually if it's viral, it would be more spread out amongst your family. Feel better soon and please try Disney again sometime. Don't give up yet!!
Take Care, Renee

Oh no. :( Hugs to all of you. :grouphug: This is awful. I hope and pray that you'll find your way back there sooner than you thought. I know how expensive it is, it's no easy task trying to gather the money for a holiday like Disney. But here's wishing you great luck and good fortune to hopefully make the trip back there sooner than you thought.

Keep coming to the DIS and, who knows, you might get into happy-planning mode again before you know it. :)

Oh no! Thats so sad! Im so sorry you and your family are so sick..I know here in the south stomach virus is really going around..Did you purchase trip insurance maybe you can get compensated if you did.
My DD got sick once in WDW had a fever and all, I was so dissapointed and I didnt know what to do but my mom was with me and helped me take care of her, we bought her meds from MK and put her in a stroller and she slept the whole day we went back to the room real early of course and thank GOD the next day she was fine and enjoyed the rest of her stay..

That is not fair!!! :sad1: I hope you and your family all feel better real soon :flower3:

I am SO sorry for you and your family!!! Please let us know what the diagnosis is. And I hope you all get better soon!

That is horrible! On one of our trips we experienced the "Disney Virus". My 10yr old niece came with us on this trip and the 2nd from the last day she woke up in the middle of the night very sick. She was sick the whole last day. Her older sister stayed in the room w/her which I felt so bad for too. We kept calling to ck on them as we had to use our last day pass. I caught the virus on the drive back home.(7 hrs) My 4yr dd caught it when we got home. We are firm believers in the hand sanitizer. We use more often now. Like after every ride we get off of. I spoke with another couple that was there the same week and they both caught it too. Our trips now consist of a lot of immodium, mylanta, hand sanitizer, lysol, etc.
So sorry!

That is horrible! I was there 6/6-6/12 and go so sick too! I thought it was food poisoning too since I was the only one sick. I had such bad stomach cramps -- we lost a full day. I was alone with my 2 kids so the 3 of us had to spend all of thursday in the hotel room.

Oh Wow! I'm so sorry for you and your family. Wishing for wellness for you and yours.

I am so sorry this happened to your family :sad2:

I hope that you are on the mend very soon :wizard:
