Good Morning,

I am enthusiastically looking into DVC (my mother and many friends/co-workers are members), and have begun to look into membership.

How should I prepare? I did order my DVD! Specifically, are there any documents I should begin to gather (i.e. credit report, pay stubs, ect.)?

The most recent person I know to join (my mother), signed up a couple of years ago while at WDW; and said it they went on the tour and it took hardly any time at all.

As a side note, while I have property preferences (AKL & Poly); I would not be adverse or turn down DVC due to the resort.

If you have't already, spend some time reading all of the information in the

DIS DVC Resource Center

Talk to your financial advisor to make sure your financial life is in order and on track before taking on debt for what is essentially a luxury purchase.

Good luck!

If you are serious about Poly, you are under a little bit of a time crunch. It is almost sold out and the price is going up about 20% in 2 weeks.
AKV, you have all the time you want to look. Check out the resale market for it after doing your research.

Most important is look at your budget. Factor in the buy in as well as all the yearly fees, travel costs to and from, ticket prices etc. Next figure out a resort you really want to be “home.” DVC is growing and has grown quite a bit. Buying anywhere and thinking you’ll just use the 7 month mark to book anywhere isn’t really the best way to go with so many people now trying to snag those rooms. Buy where you really love and want to stay.

I did the tour to verify my research, came home and researched on these forums and others for a week, spent some time on phone with guide, and pulled the trigger. Poly price going up was admittedly a motivator.

The process is incredibly easy buying direct. Can't comment on re-sale

Consider buying resale to save a few thousand dollars, decide on your favorite resort and buy there, understand that DVC is a timeshare and that you will probably have to jump through hoops to book what you want. We own VGF and tried to book a 2 bedroom lock-off this morning at 11 months and there are zero rooms available.

This is what I’m fearing about December booking at CCV! I’m doing a direct add on at a MK area resort once my BWV resale is closed. CCV was my first choice except the whole December booking thing was making me think Poly instead. But now my UY is sold out... so CCV it is :-P

If you are buying direct anyway, I reccomend looking into a fixed week. December weeks at CCV will be highly desired and people will be aggressively walking them once it is all declared.

Poly's got holes in October. VGF is a mess for 12/1 already. If you travel in fall-December-marathon, you have to understand your 11 month booking, the number of units, and the likelihood of switching to another resort (hint: low).

The only fixed week I would consider at CCV is sold out, but I wasn't ideally looking to buy that many points anyway. We travel Oct-June and like to split stay BWV/BCV and WL (and occasionally Poly), which is why we wanted to own BWV and CCV... but started thinking about Poly instead of CCV because of the December booking issue. But now we'll probably buy at CCV, our first MK preference, and book the whole trip at BWV as a back-up for December trips when CCV may book out with walkers.

Until CCV sells out and has a couple of years going on it we won't really know what will happen in December there but booking a studio at VWL (BRV) has not been an issue for early December if you book right at 11 months and it wouldn't be surprising to find it the same at CCV. The rooms that have the difficulty are where they are split into views and have very few rooms in some of those views.

Investigate resale! Most especially for AKV and also for Poly now as it's about sold out and the direct price is taking a tremendous jump.

Ouch, I assume this is because of the studio portion of the lock off being grabbed. I was booking this am too - but @ AKV w/ our AKV points, as I’m saving our VGF points for our 2019 stay & it looks like in addition to both standard and lake view VGF 2 br. lock offs being gone & of course all the studios are gone, even the 1 br. standard views are gone, I’ll have to budget for a lake view 1 br. next year just in case, I guess.

Perhaps in the past, but BRV studios & 2 br. lock offs are gone today for the first week of Dec. 2018, exactly 11 months out. That could change, of course & there’s lots of time for a waitlist to fill.
Interestingly, @ the moment the only WDW DVC resorts w/ full availability for all villa categories 11 months from now in the first week of Dec. 2018, are BC, SSR, AKV-Kidani & Poly.

But were they there at 8am? I believe so. I'm not certain how fast they went though as I wasn't trying to book this morning - am planning on going Nov 29th next year and booked a VWL studio yesterday afternoon for that.

Lock-offs will always be gone when studios are but both VGF and BRV has dedicated 2BR's too and are better to plan for at the busy times of the year. At both locations the dedicated 2BR's are still available.

Don’t know about 8 am as it was very early here on the west coast and I was focused on grabbing my AKV Jambo villa and going back to sleep :)
What do you attribute the VGF 1 br. standards already being gone to? Just the next cheapest points wise for people who couldn’t get studios?
I was pretty relaxed this am getting AKV Jambo as I figured it wasn’t a hard get, but it looks like next year for VGF I’d better be poised & ready to pounce at the stroke of 8 am east coast time for a standard view 1 br..

Yes, I think that's generally the trend with VGF and the 2BR's actually book last there.

Wow, I Think that is crazy that VWL studio cannot be booked right now for December 1!, I never imagined I would have problems there for December at 11 months. Here I was worried about VGF.

I think the safest strategy going forward for early Dec. especially is not to dawdle w/ booking - 8 am east coast time is your 11 month friend.

There's even more holes in November for Poly. I'm looking to book for Christmas 2018 and will definitely do it on the dot at my 11 month window for Poly.

I have heard some suggest they will open it because those poly bookings will change at 7 months, but unless they are changing to 1BRs I am now t seeing it.
