We have had 3, yes THREE phone books delivered this week-all different companies. ENOUGH. We don't even need ONE phone book. Is there a "Do Not Phone book" list somewhere :lmao:

I agree. They just go directly into the recycle bin, but they're just so dang heavy to have to get rid of!!

I understand that they still make them for the 1% (that's a guess) of the population who don't have the internet. But if that's the case, then have those people order a phone book if they need one. Spare yourselves the cost of producing and distributing them, and spare the rest of us the hassle!!

Try to calling your local phone company (for their books) and ask them to take you off the list.

If you are bored, you can try this:

It is impossible to separate two phone books interleaved page-to-page due to the massive amount of friction between the 800 pages of each book?

This was tested on Mythbusters...very interesting stuff!

I just saw an article saying that the Verizon phone book will no longer include residential listings.

That should lighten the recycling load for some people.

I tried this and it only gave me the option to order MORE :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Really? It shows on mine that you can choose anywhere from 0 - 3 on each directory.

First page: select Zip Code
Next page: Choose Select Your Dex
Next Page: Choose # of copies, including 0 to opt out

Our goal is to process your request as quickly and accurately as possible.

Use the form on the right to indicate the quantity of each listed Dex Published Directory you wish to receive, including selecting "0" to opt out. To change quantities or opt out of directories published by other companies, visit www.yellowpagesoptout.com.

Orders placed less than 60 days in advance of the delivery date will be processed during the next delivery cycle. Delivery dates may vary by directory choice.

II understand that they still make them for the 1% (that's a guess) of the population who don't have the internet.

According to the 2010 U.S. Census that would be 31% that have no internet access at home. Apparently a portion of that percentage are folks who had internet, but have decided to dump it at home in favor of just using it at work.

As for Internet Phone directories, well, about 5 weeks ago I was looking for a list of restaurants in my area. The first 5 that came up in 3 different online directories had been out of business for several years. My printed directory was more up to date. I guess the internet directories don't bother to purge numbers when a business closes.
Now I agree, I don't want multple phone books, I only want the one from MY phone company.
