I'm thinking of staying at a Marriott timeshare for a week and getting the 7 day Universal pass. Will we be bored after a short while? We are die hard Disney fans. We have 2 little girls, 2 and 6.

Thanks!

I don't think you'll have any problems
We are heading to The HRH for 5 nights in July
We were just in DisneyUniversal for 8 days in Nov 07

We did 5 days in Disney and 3 days in Universal/IOA and still feel like we missed some things
This time, we are only going to The Magic Kingdom for one day and
then spending the rest of our time at Universal/IOA
Back and forth to the parks, lots of swimming time

You wont regret it, I could ride those rides over and over again :)

I could NEVER be bored at Universal! We have been going for the last two years almost every other month for long weekends and still have not "done it all".

::yes:: Been doing US since '93 and allways see something diffrent every trip!

We have been going to universal for awhile now and like other posters say we see something new everytime and I don't think you will get bored and there is always something to do.

I had fun at US/IOA but after 3 days I had seen it all and was bored. :confused3 Sorry to all of you big US/IOA fans but I just didn't get the full magic of it like I do at WDW. I had fun and I enjoyed the rides but there wasn't anywhere near enough to keep me busy for 7 days. So on my trip earlier this month where I planned for no WDW at all, 4 US/IOA days and 2 SW days I only ended up doing 3 US/IOA days and 1 SW day and I snuck off to WDW for the last 2 days. :lmao:

YMMV, but there are a LOT of little details in the parks, smaller things like games to play, secret areas to see, and plenty of places to eat!

Yes, I think you'll be bored for that many days with 2 girls as young as yours. I think there would be enough to do for 2-3 days, but that may even be stretching it a bit. I've been twice in the last few months - once with my boys ages 9 & 12 and another trip with just another adult friend, and we had a great time. But my friend left her daughters of ages 2, 7, & 8 at home and definitely said there just wasn't enough that she'd be comfortable taking them to. That's why we took a Moms only trip and she's waiting several years before she'll take her girls.

I really enjoyed the parks, but don't feel that there's enough for the younger children. Sure, the children's areas they have are really great, but we're talking spending a few hours there - not 7 days! And the more adult themes of so many of the atrractions/rides/shows just may not be appropriate. My friend said there's no way she would have taken her girls to things like Terminator, Hollywood Horror Make-up Show, Jaws ride, etc.

If I were you, I'd save Universal for about 6 years from now and stick with Disney!

The longest I've stayed onsite at Universal was 6 nights and by the last day I was getting a little bored but mostly tired. I have a tendency to keep busy every day and night and by the time I leave, I need another vacation! So I guess my suggestion if you're going to be there for a week is to spread everything out. Don't cram everything into one day or night because you have the time to see and do it all. You'll enjoy everything much more.

I don't think that there will be enough for your kids to do for a week.

My kids are older (10 and 6) and I found that the 6 yo and I spent a lot of time killing time while the others rode serious thrill rides.

She loves rides and rode everything she could but she still wasn't tall enough for some things.

i had the same issue with my son last time i went. He still isnt tall enough for looping coasters.

My son is 9 now and we have been going for two years. We do not do coasters because of his disability but we find plenty to do. We find Universal very "magical" but then again I guess it is just what you make of it.
My dad always used to say when I was bored- " Only boring people get bored."

While I think it's true that you can find things to do for the under 8 age group, and if Universal were the only theme park option in Orlando, then it would be just fine. I feel that given Disney as an option for the younger kids, there's just so much more that would appeal to them and also be appropriate for older kids, that Disney is a much better choice with younger kids. I waited until my youngest was big enough and adventurous enough for all the coasters before trying Universal, and we enjoyed it very much!

The big coasters are such a major part of Universal that I think it would be tough to plan a week long trip with young children and work around the swapping on the coasters. Just my opinion though! :hippie:

There's really only 3 major coasters...plus a few kiddie ones, I really don't see why this is considered a major part of the parks.

i have been going to orlando since 1974.

i went to universal the year they opened their park.
when i go, i do both universal and disney on my trips.

i have never been bored at universal.
the longest i have stayed on site has been 6 nights/7 full days.

i still need more time there.
i do more than just the parks. i include city walk, the cinema, parks, hotels, etc in all my trips.
when i go for HHN in the fall, i always run out of time to do what i enjoy there.

we all have different likes for the parks.
nothing to argue about.

I personally don't think you'll be bored...between the parks and your pool at the timeshare....

That said, stick with the 7 day ticket...it's still cheaper than going for 3 days, and you'll need at LEAST 3 days. ;) Even if you go at least 3 days, you're still coming out ahead....it's like the other 4 days on the ticket are free...you aren't losing anything.

i can't say i've ever been bored on vacation - anywhere:confused3 , anything beats porchville imo

since u raised the possibility of being 'bored' & state ur 'die hard disney fans'...perhaps u might be bored...going on the premise that if u go with the wrong frame of mind, u'd be bored even @ disney KWIM:duck:

if u go with an open mind and are looking for new adventures, a prudent person would think u'd have a great time:thumbsup2

We spent 6-7 days in US/IOA last August (we were there for 16 days and I can't remember now if it was 6 or 7). We also stayed offsite. For us that was just the right amount of time. We did and saw everything (and some things more than once - I think my kids rode The Mummy ten times in a row one morning). The best thing, as far as I am concerned, is that we were able to take it at a very relaxed pace because we had so much time. We got there for park opening, stayed until about 1 pm and then went back to our villa for a swim/rest/nap and something to eat. Some nights we went back and others we just hung out at the Villa relaxing. There were 9 of us (me -46, dd-16, ds-13, my mom-71, my sister-42, BIL-50, DN-12, DN-9, and dn - 3.5). There was truly something for everyone. When I got home I didn't feel like a I needed a vacation from my vacation. It was one of the best Orlando based vacations I've ever taken.
