Hi all!

I'm thinking of booking a carriage ride at POR (we're staying there btw). We are having dinner at Jiko. ADR at 6:00. Will we have enough time eat and to get back to POR for a 9:00 or 9:30 carriage ride? Or should I look at doing it another night.

Thanks,
Cynde

Most likely. I would imagine that dinner would be about an hour long. The biggest issue you will have is getting back to POR via the WDW transportation system. Normally I would suggest taking the AKL bus to AK and then transferring to the POR bus. But that only works if AK is still open. If it isn't open, then you will have to head to a different park and transfer at that park to the POR bus. Or just take a cab back from AKL to POR after dinner.

Unless you rush, dinner at Jiko will take 1-1/2 to 2 hours (and what is the point of rushing through a wonderful dinner experience like Jiko?). That being said, you will still be done by 8. If you are then concerned about getting back to POR by 9 via WDW transportation (and if you don't have a car of your own), you can always then grab a cab from AKL back to POR. It's been a few years since I have taken a cab on Disney property, but the cost of that can't be more than $15 - $20.

Jiko is what I was concerned about. I do not want to rush that delicious meal!! mmmmmm. And i know no matter what I've got to go to a park or DTD to get back to POR. Maybe I'll look into doing the carriage ride another night. After all we are staying there. :)

Thanks for the info!

I'd definately figure 2 hours for dinner at Jiko & grab a cab. We use cabs frequently in WDW. I'd estimate cabfare from AKL to POR to be $15. It's $20 to the Contemporary.
Using a cab or your own car, it's totally doable. On WDW transpo, probably not.

Book the carriage ride for a different night. As the previous poster stated it is the WDW transportation system that will slow you down due to there being no Hotel to Holtel service.
Jiko is a unique dining experience (not to mention $$$$) so I would not want to be sitting there worring about whether I will be back in time for my carrige ride. Plan to linger at AKL after dinner instead. Wander out to the animal viewing areas and use the nightvision goggles to see what you can see then head to one of the Lounges for a nightcap before returning to your hotel.
