Originally my plan was to go this year to Disney enjoy what I could and add a cruise for the family (1st time cruisers) Then go back to star wars world in 2021. Wiley being the realist that she is suggested we don't go this year and tackle it next year. Her thoughts are that my two oldest will already be out of high school doing their own thing in 2021. She asked how hard would it really be to tackle starwars land opening year. I put a plan together and was hoping you guys could tell me if I would need more time dedicated to Star wars.

Day 1 - Arrival rest around hotel
Day 2 - HS
Day 3 - Mk Part 1
Day 4 - Rest
Day 5 - Animal Kingdom
Day 6 - HS
Day 7 - Cruise
Day 8- Cruise
Day 9 - Cruise
Day 10 - Cruise
Day 11- Cruise back epcot
Day 12 - Mk kingdom part 2
Day 13 - leave home

We are thinking last two weeks of October.
1. Would like to make sure we do all pandora
2. Do most of the new star wars stuff

Do those two seem possible

Well, the thing is that we just really don't know how long it will take to see Star Wars. I would expect it to be very, very busy, but if that is your priority and you have full days at HS dedicated to it, then I can't imagine it will not be doable. Just realize that you may have to focus a good chunk of your day on Star Wars (and likely still Pandora) and may not get to everything else. FastPasses will help so make sure you snag some, and of course, being there for Rope Drop is a must.

I can't really give more advice than that until we get a better idea of what we are dealing with, how the traffic flows, ride capacity, etc. Welcome to the Dis, and stick around as I'm sure this will be getting discussed a lot as we get closer to the opening and after. Have fun planning your trip!

Thank you, so do you suggest maybe even more time than a day for Animal Kingdom? Animal Kingdom would be a first for us so we would want to do the oldies like EE, and the safari.

Rope drop is not an issue since we have made it multiple times before

There is currently no opening date planned for Star Wars. 2019 is the only indication. It might not even be open in October, as reports are it will open in Anaheim first and Orlando second.

Definitely have to wait and see. Heck, Pandora's exact opening date was only announced about four months in advance.

Well, for AK, Pandora is a known quantity these days, so there are lots of tips for seeing it. Now things could change in two years andcrowds could shift a little toward Star Wars and Pandora might not be quite as packed as it is right now, but I wouldn't bet on that. Right now, for seeing Pandora, getting a Fast Pass for Flight of Passage is the best move. You may want to see it twice, so combine with a Rope Drop visit. BE at AK at least an hour before it opens and stand at the tap points. Everyone will rush to Pandora, but if you are near the front of the pack you can ride with minimal wait. Navi River Journey also gets a long line and it will build significantly as you ride FoP (unless you are on one of the very first cycles). You could break from the pack and ride that if you have a FastPass for FoP. It just depends on what you want to do. Of course, the other tactic is to let the bulk of the crowd rush to Pandora and do the rest of the park at Rope Drop (again, assuming you have the FoP FastPass), then go back to Pandora later. You may be able to ride NRJ close to the end of the night without too bad of a wait. Keep in mind, this is going to be a long day, but if your party is up for it, you can definitely see the bulk of the park, including Pandora.

This is true. I would expect it to be open by October 2019, but it is far from a guarantee. Anything could happen, and we won't know for sure until much closer to the open date.

I'm sure it will be open but either way I can adjust up till November trying to just make the most solid decision based on the info that I have. plus help from you smart people here

When I visited the coming attractions installation at One Man's Dream (I forget what they're calling it now) the CM there told me that SW Land is opening in late 2019, not spring/summer.

Considering how insanely busy Pandora has been since it opened, I dont think anyone would be surprised to see wait times for the new attractions exceed what we've seen for Flights of Passage.

I've got a trip planned for this November, and June or August of 2019 (not expecting Star Wars to open by this time). Then I'm planning go 2022. Doing this for two reasons; #1 is I'm using 2020 DVC points for 2019 trip, and want to accumulate 2 years of points for the next trip (2022); #2 I want to avoid the opening year of Galaxy's Edge.

I'm basing my skipping opening year of Galaxy's Edge on the opening year for Pandora. I figure Pandora's two attractions are still hitting huge wait times 6+ months since opening, and it doesn't seem to matter what season it is. My feeling is that Star Wars has a much larger following than Pandora, so it's going to be a while before the madness slows down. Just my opinion.

Based on what we know happened with FP+ for FOP in AK (being very difficult to get on Day 1/Day 2 of people's vacations), I would not recommend trying to do DHS and Star Wars attractions on your second day. I would push both DHS days later into your trip - perhaps do Day 5 and Day 6 instead. I would probably do MK Day 2, AK Day 3, DHS Day 5 & 6.

Yes, if you can do RD, you should have no problem doing AK in a day. There are only 2 rides in Pandora, so as long as you can get a FP+ for FOP (and I think the frenzy will die down after Star Wars opens) or RD FOP, you will have no problem doing AK in a day.

If you can move this trip to November, I would do it. As PP's have said, there is no opening date, yet, for Star Wars and they took their sweet time announcing the opening date for Pandora. Particularly if you are adding a cruise to this (which has much more stringent change and cancellation policies than a WDW trip), I would push this as far into the year as you can to try to make sure Star Wars will be open. Certainly no guarantees!

This is GREAT advice. As late in your trip as you can plan those days will be exponentially helpful.

I would also look out for many "Star Wars Morning / Evening / Middle of the Night / magic" hard-ticket events to be created that could help if you have the cash.

This is a good point. To take that advice even further, do you think OP should actually plan to move the cruise earlier in the trip and put one of the DHS visits on day 11 or 12 to maximize FP+ chances?
(Of course, this is really early to be doing any planning. They might come up with a whole new process for allocating Star Wars entry by 2021.)

Yes! They should probably add a 2am-5am special event and run those attractions hard for 24 hours a day.
