enough time for rope drop?

we have an early morning ressie at cape may cafe - 7:30am. does this give us enough time to eat and take the boat over to DHS for rope drop? i don't need to see any special rope drop shows, but my concern lies with the TSM rumors that i have heard. we want to be able to ride early or at least obtain a fast pass...

If the rope drop is at 9:00, then you should have time. Allow yourself at least 25 minutes to walk or take the boat to DHS. Breakfast should not take more than an hour.

However, we stayed at BCV this past October, and Cape May opened at 7:45 AM, not 7:30. It may have changed, but I know for sure it was 7:45 in October.

I don't think so, not if you don't want to rush. Now you should be seated right away since you are the first reservation (allears.net says they start serving at 7:30), but character meals and kids always makes for a longer meal. I have never been out of a character meal in an hour. Of course you can always watch the clock and if it's getting too late, just wrap things up.

Also, it's always best to get there a bit before rope drop. We did DHS and were there when it opened, but had not gotten there as early as I would have liked so we were back in the pack so to speak. I immediately went to FP for TSM and my return time was already around 11am.

I think you'll only make it if you rush. Maybe you could try what I'm going to do, which is; make a late as possible ADR, and make your meal more of a lunch, then go to MGM at rope drop, ride TSM, then go to the Beach Club, and go back to MGM after eating. You can also get FP's before breakfast, and they should be good to use by the time you get back to MGM.

thanks for all of your suggestions/advice. i think i will keep our ressie and just head over to DHS when we are done. i would just like to get A fastpass for sometime that day - so it sounds as though as long as we get there at 9ish, we should be in good shape.

anyone know the quickest route from the beach club to dhs? i know there is a walkway and the boat - no bus? normally we would be totally up for the walk, but if it is 90+ degrees - not to mention the fact that i will be about 15 weeks preggo with my 3rd, i am guessing the boat would be a good option???

Check to see if DHS has morning EMH that day. If so, the park would open at 8:00.

Don't worry about not getting there at rope drop. If you get there shortly thereafter, there will still be Fastpasses and you'll have missed the mob scene. I hate doing rope drop at DHS so I always try to arrive a little later, but somehow I'm always running early and hit it anyway! You just end up standing in a huge crowd of people while they do a little show, and you won't see anything of the show unless you're right up front. Better to start the day with a fun, leisurely character meal and then arrived when the massive herds have dissipated.

good thinking! i have no desire to be gridlocked in a massive herd, with my two kids and 90+ degrees!

We got to TSM about a hour after DHS opened and the Fastpasses were to 1 pm, so it was up there but not crazy, so you should be ok, it is a great ride! I would wait about 45 min for that ride actually, kids will stay entertained
