Enough already with the parties!!!

First day of school and my neice comes home with a "back to school" party invitation!! Is she suppose to bring a gift.

It's the first day of school for goodness sake. Sorry I'm partied out.
Birthday parties that rival state dinners. Sweet 16 parties that make some weddings look small. kindergarten, elementary school, middle than H.S. graduations.

No wonder we've got "entitlement" issue. Just going to the bath room correctly nowadays seems to be cause for fireworks.

Ok, I know I'm probably over reacting but do we have to treat every day on the calendar with a national holiday?

We always have an end of the summer party for my daughters school friends- but there are no gifts involved- what would there be a gift exchange for??

We've been to a few back to school parties, and they have always been very nice. It was a great way for my dds to get to know some of the kids in class they didn't know, and a chance for me to meet some of the moms. The ones we've been to were very casual and low key and no gifts were brought.
