Enough already!! Regarding posts about the moderators of these boards!

What a great way to sum it up!!!!

I'm also adding my thanks to the mods & WM's for doing a great job!!!

The moderators are the main reason that I choose to spend my time on the DIS boards. I started doing the Disney thing on the internet long before the DIS existed. I spent my time on RADP, an unmoderated newsgroup. I'm not knocking RADPers. I've met some wonderful people on that newsgroup and know that there is a lot of crossover between the DIS and RADP. But since RADP is unmoderated, it can get quite nasty and ugly over there in a hurry. That's something that the moderators on the DIS have to work on 24/7 and I appreciate and applaud their efforts. Do I always agree with their decisions? No way. But as long as I'm playing in their sandbox, I (try to) follow the rules.

Like mhopset, I'm clueless as to what precipitated this thread. And I would like to remain that way. I don't envy the moderators and their task. I'm just glad that they can provide an enjoyable place here on the internet.

I thank you moderators (and Cathy for sticking up for them) I wish I had that magic key to lock threads.. It could be fun I could run around locking them at my whim- I could become the "lock fairy" :)

To everyone hug your moderator- it's a thankless job -even worse they don't get paid!

count me in on being on in the dark. But anyone who downs someone for volunteering my saying is "If you think you can do a better job, then all the power to you!" Volunteering is a thankless job and it is usually the ones that have comments would not think about volunteering. Because it usually takes a volunteer to appreciate a volunteer!

Thank you to all who moderate these boards, kudos to you all!!! You do a wonderful job.

I'm glad I didn't understand the initial problem in the first place--not unusual for me though.;)
Anyway, like someone else said, I wouldn't be here if the DIS wasn't moderated. I have never had a problem with the moderators and have exchanged PMs with several before about the boards. I have always found them to be very nice and helpful and willing to work any problem out. :)

Mods are great,
Mods are good,
Let us be thankful
for our brood
on this forum here,
and their irreverent humor,
and thoughtfulness,
and patience,
from board to shining board,
o'er this land of the Disneyphiles,
from dawn until dusk,
for fourscore and seven years,
may they have peace and prosperity,
and be led not into temptation,
and deliver them from unseemly typos.

Amen.

;)

I, too, appreciate the mods and wmsts.

Contrary to popular belief - I to admire the mod's for the job that they do around here...

I use to volunteer my time working with mentally challenged children...therefore, I can honestly say that I appreciate the work of ANY type of volunteer...

I suffered through the removal of 2 tumors and 3 surgeries over the course of one year - during that time, the DIS boards were my strength to no end...

I guess the time has come for me to give the strength back as I have been trying to do since it happened. I can admit that I was wrong - and I was, and that I regret more then you guys will ever know. Please believe me when I say, had I known that my posts would have caused anyone grief - I NEVER would have stated them!

For what it is worth - I am sorry...I am hoping that you will see my apology as sincere in a public forum, since it is dismissed in PM's...

I, too, am in the dark... but I wanted to add my appreciation for Cathy and the Moderators... this is the only board that I come to every time I log on... Keep up the good work!

I seem to have missed the most recent "rukus"... can't say that I am sorry. :)

It is BECAUSE these boards are moderated that I spend time here. It is a service I very much appreciate.

Thank you to all the folks who give of their time and put up with the "outbursts" - so that we may all enjoy this great community.

I appreciate the work the mods do too. I know it's hard work and I wouldn't want the responsibility.

Thank you to the mods and WMs for all you do to make this board a great one! :)

I, too, would like to add my thanks to the Mods and the WMs of this forum and all the forums on the DIS - the time they take to keep this a place that I enjoy coming to everyday is worth more than words can say. I applaud you all!

Having 'been there' for over two years here on the CB, I can very much appreciate the job that is done by the moderators. The DIS in general is so very big, and the CB in particular, both with its immense popularity and its 'any topic is fine guideline' (within DIS guidelines of course) make it tough at times to moderate to everyone's approval. But with the amount of people who are on the DIS, coming back day after day, year after year (sometimes even after they 'left for good) it certainly must be a hit with many. And when it is not, they leave on their own accord, or are asked to leave, after repeated warnings.

All the moderators can do is act in their interpretation of the rules, and if it is not correct, in the eyes of Pete or the WM's, they will let them know. That past experience gave me a good view of what the current moderators deal with on a daily basis here. And I will say that the job is not unappreciated by most here. I know most appreciated what I and the others did back then, and I know most appreciate the work the current moderators do, I do. I butted heads back then at times, I still do now at times. But my butting heads with any in charge is always out of love for the DIS. And likewise, the moderator or WM is doing the same, for the love of the DIS. Wow, this place can be passionate at times, LOL. Again, thanks guys, for all you do.

I totally agree Kath :)

I also have to thank the mods for all the hard work they do here :) Not an easy job I am sure!

I think it's very interesting that most of the people who posted to this thread responded with "I don't know what's going on".
The truth is the VAST majority of people that come here, post a little, read a little, and just have fun. Those are the people we moderate for.
There is a very vocal minority that may not like the way things are done but I think the success of the DIS shows that most people do agree with the way the moderators do their job.

This board and the DIS are a great place. If it wasn't people would not be retuning day after day, and that includes me, who has been here for 4 years.

I guess what it all boils down to is that there are many personalities here. All of them with their own views and ideas. Sometimes there is disagreement. It is what is done with the disagreement that causes problems. Moderators and webmasters are not here to bother people, we are here to enforce the rules Pete has decided on. We are posters like everyone else. Heck, I have only been a mod for less than a year, but a poster for 4.

I guess what it comes down to is people make mistakes. What is important is what happens after the mistake is made. If you don't want to forgive, that is fine, but leave it off the boards. I would hope everyone would forgive though.

I moderate because I love this place. I feel I owe this place my dedication and my time. It has given me alot...but that is a long personal story. I do not do it because of anything else, to be honest there isn't anything else. I know the same is true of my fellow moderators. We are here because this place has touched us in a special way and when asked we wanted to give something back.

OK, so I am rambling....What I am saying is. Think about what you say here. Think about how it affects others. Do not think that the person on the otherside of the computer is a faceless being. Tell the truth and be honest with yourseleves and those here....and when you make a mistake own up to it, and if you are on the other side of the coin forgive...it is to much effort not too.

Thanks you all for making this place what it is....thank you to my fellow mods and webbies, I am so glad you are All here.

{{{{Hugs}}} Madonna. That took a lot for you to post here.

Thank you Mods and Webmasters!
