Ive been engaged since July 28th, 2014. It has been amazing planning our wedding for this October 21st.

Since the thrill of the engagement has worn off. I occasionally get compliments from customers and other people regarding my ring. I say my thank yous but unsure if i should keep the conversation going to tell when my wedding is, or that my fiance picked it, or just say thanks and if they ask about it then go into detail.

This year is also the year of weddings for me because two friends and my sister are also getting married and im a part of their weddings. So there are the details of those to help out with.

I guess i just have the excitement of weddings going on and would like to chat with others about their experiences also!

I just got engaged yesterday and of course I am still on cloud 9. I haven't planned anything yet for the wedding, but my Fiance and I are thinking of a wedding next Summer 2016. So if you'd like to bend my ear about wedding planning please do. I not only would love to hear them, but also get any tips of planning a wedding.

we are not offically engaged yet but have discussed it and i basically have the whole thing planned on pinterest lol

It looked wonderful!

Thank You. It is really exciting. I guess the first thing that popped into my head when I was thinking about a wedding for myself and my Fiance was Walt Disney World. Did you even think to explore that option or is it way too crazy expensive? Also how far in advance do you have to book a date with a Clergyman? We haven't narrowed down a specific date yet, but we are thinking somewhere at the end of June or Beginning of July of 2016.

I thought it would have been awesome to have it at Disney but i knew it wasnt going to happen. We wanted to have our family and friends there and knew it would be to expensive for us. But of course we are adding some disney on our day. For a clergyman id say the sooner the better. So there will be less stress of finding one.. I have a family friend marrying us. Officially booked this january i think. Just one thing at a time will help make it less stressful.

My fiance and i were lucky for our venue. We searched on weddingwire.com in the area where we got engaged... Its a small historic area so there werent many options for a venue. But we found this wonderful bed and breakfast that covered everything. Ceremony and reception. They cater it and have a local bakery working with them to provide the cake in the cost of the food. Also a in house Coordnater for our event at no extra cost. I get excited everytime we go to it. Its A cute venue and im just in awe of it.

That is so awesome you have such a great venue.

I also know that Disney will be too expensive and it would also be very hard to have all the guests we would want at are wedding if we had it at Disney. I will also throw in a few Disney moments, especially at out reception. Maybe the first dance or last dance might be to a Disney song. Having a year to plan seems like a ton of time right now, but as you said it is better to pace things and not get crammed with stuff at the end. I want this to be as stress free as possible.

Yes! My fiance and i are planning it together..im not making all the decisions, one cause its hard for me to decide whats for dinner so wedding things would be harder. And two, him and i talk about everything and i couldnt imagine planning a day about the two of us without him.

I would research things while babysitting (they are 9 and 12, done need to much supervision) and then ask my fiance later about it. I have a spiral notebook ive written everything in...from our guest list to adressess to notes about Time line of the day and invitations..of course it was over the last few months ive gathered ththis.. This has helped cause he knows where the information is and its all in one spot. Also have a desk organizer with a section for the folders we've recieved from our vendors, a pen holder, and a smaller spot where we are keeping receipts..

We will definitely have disney songs as part of the reception and then our cake topper possibly... Havent decided on that. But pinterest is your best friend for ideas!

My DF also told me he wants to be involved as much as possible. Not only in picking the Best Man(His Older Brother most likely) and the Groomsman and the Tuxedos, but picking the music, the Cake, The Church, The Guest List, The Reception Favors, and everything else(other than picking my Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids). :)

That is a wonderful tip about keeping a spiral notebook and also the folders. I will definitely be doing that. Thanks. :)

Glad to help! I think it only makes since to plan it together, and he keeps me less stress about everything! So lucky to be marrying him.

The one wedding im a bridesmaid in, try to help and ask her questions about what shes got planned, shes not sure about alot of it. Its mainly her mom and her throwing ideas around and her fiance helps a little. Its not the most organized wedding, i know both really well and its just like them. But i prefer mine to be a little more organized.

I wish you best of luck with everything! But one advice for this first month of engagement, enjoy being engaged before really planning, talk about ideas and use fiance as much as possible...wont havethat title forever!

I am also the organized type. I think the more I am organized the less stressed I will be. I have been that way since I was pretty young.

I am definitely going to enjoy this engagement. My DF and I are really like we are already married though. We have been together for just over 3 years and have been living together for 1 year. So we will certainly be doing a lot of talking about things.

That's great!! I see your from MD. ME TOO!! I live just north of Baltimore in Timonium. My wedding will be in Havre de Grace! So cool!! Haha

Oh another piece of advice is to figure out a budget and stick to it. Find out what you are willing to spend on a venue, cater, dj, or photographer. And who will be paying for what. We were planning on paying for it ourselves but we are grateful that his mom and my parents are helping with the wedding.

That is so cool. Yes I am from Crisfield, Maryland which is about an hour Southwest of Ocean City, Maryland. I know exactly where Timonium is. Havre de Grace is in the Northern part of Maryland, correct?

My parents and my future in laws have already said they are going to help out a lot. That doesn't mean I am going to go hog wild on everything. My parents have already shelled out for my college education. We will come up with a budget and run that past both sets of parents. Then we will stick to that number.

Yes it is. By Abington. About 40 minutes from me. That's cool I have to say I haven't been to that part of MD!

That's awesome! Yeah I've very chilled about our planning. While we will have around 100 guest. The wedding I'm going to in July is close to 300 I can't imagine trying to plan one that big.. Hers will be in the city so parking will be fun for everyone! Haha. Oh and when you get your list together. Write it down and have all addresses in one spot. My fiancé and I had some in his phone some in mine and then we weren't sure who we sent Save The Dates to.

Also remember even if you have 100 guests doesn't mean you need to order 100 Save the dates or invites cause of the households. My fiancé was in charge of ordering n now we have about 30 extra... He didn't think of that. Haha but when we order our invitations I will check his numbers haha :D

Yes, I think I know exactly where that is. Abington is near Bel Air, Maryland. My town isn't much, but Ocean City, Maryland is a must to see at some point in your life.

I don't even know if we know 300 people. haha Just off the top of my head I was thinking about 150 guests. I have a lot of my friends from college addresses in my phone. I will have to compile just one list though, because my parents will have some addresses from family I don't have, my DF has some of his friends probably in his phone, and also his parents with family. This may be a silly question, but when sending the Save The Date to guests do you send it in the mail or can you send an e-mail to those who have e-mail addresses?

Oh I've been to OC. Was a family vacation for 15 years or so and then a few years later we started disney!

There's really no rules for Save The dates. You don't have to send one especially if almost everyone is local. But if you have out of town then it helps for their planning. My wedding is on a Wednesday so we went them out because some people will have to take off work to come so they can plan ahead that way.

I think emails would be fine can add a cute picture or two to it and everything! Save some money that way too!

I was thinking of the save the money thing with the e-mails. :)

We will have out town guests, because of friends from our colleges are from several different States around the United States. At least most of our close relatives are from Maryland or Virginia.
