Engagement Ring/Diamond Question

We've been married almost 12 years eek: sounds like a long time when I type it out ) and I really would like to get a new mounting for my engagement ring solitaire. I currently have a diamond channel band that the center stone is mounted on and a matching wedding band.

So my question is...are diamonds/jewelry like cars - you can trade in what you have for an upgrade? Will a jeweler give me anything for my old bands to offset the cost of a new one? I think I'm OK with just keeping the center stone for sentimental value, so I don't mind parting with the bands. They're about a carat total weight, so I was hoping they'd be worth a little.

Yes, they do! Ask around and check out several jewelers to find one who has a style you like.
