Hello everyone!
I just booked an engagement session with Randy and was wondering if anyone has any advice for us. I have never really had professional photos done before and have no clue how to prepare.
I think we are going to do them at the Poly becuase of the greenery and wonderful flowers.
If you have any adivce or tips they would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

Get your makeup and hair done (I used Lisa Pena, and loved her), get plenty of sleep the night before, Coordinate the two outfits (yours and his) practice smiling in the mirror...some of mine came out weird. Make sure that you always keep your eyes open! Randy is a quick shooter! =) Have some definate ideas of what you want. Those are just a few ideas. If you search for my trip report thread you can see some of the photos that Randy took of us.

we also did our e pics with randy at the polynesian, he was just great to work with. i also chime in on the getting plenty of sleep the night before & coordinating outfits. other than that have fun, smile & be natural.

Hi Nikki,

I am a professional photographer (mostly children), but to me the MOST important thing is clothes - they can make or break a session. Keep with solid colors (no stripes, plaids or anything that take away from your face) and something you are really comfortable in. If you hate what you are wearing - it's really hard to get great expressions. Remember to have a few with smiles, some that are serious (snuggling, kissing, holding hands very storytelling) and always a few having fun (laughing, talking to each other, just having a really good time together). The resort will provide a great background. Get a good night's sleep, and give yourself plenty of time to get ready the day of your session. I also would not be afraid of making a list of images you would like that day (search web sites, books and magazines for ideas). Good Luck ~ I'm sure Randy will do a great job for you!

I had Randy for my wedding and LOVED him! My only regret is that I didn't plan better. I assumed that Randy would know exactly what I wanted (i.e. read my mind), which was ridiculous! Before your shoot, go out and look around and write down any specific poses that you want to make sure that you get!
