DF and I will be going down in October for our planning session. We have already set up a time to take engagement photos with our photographer.

Since our wedding and reception will be at the Yacht Club Gazebo/ADH, and we'll have plenty of wedding pictures in this area, I was trying to come up with another location to take engagement photos. Do y'all have any suggestions?

We did ours at the GF. Recently I have seen some nice shots in DTD. I always think that the AK Lodge and WL are really nice too. Randy Chapman did ours and he knew right where to set up the shots etc.

We picked Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian because we felt those were some of the most highly themed Disney resorts. :thumbsup2

We had a really tough time deciding as well. We are also using ADH so I really didn't want do it around the boardwalk since we will get pic's there from the wedding, but we are also using the WP for our ceremony, so I didn't really want to GF either. We have pretty much decided on the Polynesian as of now, but we will be there over Christmas so we might get a couple shots in the GF or WL too because I've heard they have great Christmas Decorations. I'm sure no matter where you choose they will turn out great... have you thought about doing it around the Grand Floridian? That's where I would suggest if you don't plan on getting wedding day pictures there.

We did the Poly because we could get great photos indoors and outside on the beach and near the pool.

We did the WP/GF because that's where we will be getting married in June 2012 so I wanted now and then shots since it's 22 months away. I think it will be fun to see those pictures later on for our wedding and compare them to the ones we had done in April 2010!! :goodvibes

I feel like these two resorts don't get enough air time because they're value resorts, but think how cute it would be to have pics at Pop Century or one of the Allstars! If your man's a sports guy, why not some at Allstar Sports? or if you're a big music fan, Allstar Music? The theming I think is adorable for engagement shoots, and I haven't seen any photos from those locations.

We did Polynesian last May, great scenery for pics!! Palm trees, white sand, and you can have the Wedding Pavilion or castle in the background :thumbsup2, which might be a fun way of having your wedding site in the background!

LOVE that Idea!!!!!! Never heard of that before, never thought about doing that! DARN:headache:

i wouldn't stress it too much assuming you've hired a photgrapher that is familiar with WDW? David and Vicki Arndt took us to the Poly, then out by the WP/Frahnks and the beach there and even in the stairwell at Saratoga Springs where we were saying! my point is, they had waaayyyyyyy more ideas than we ever would have come up with plus they did such varied things at each place there were many many options!

have fun!!:thumbsup2

My fiance and I have talked about doing some pics at Pop. We love it there, and think it'd be so much fun and so cool to have some relaxed pictures taken there. It'd be a nice change of pace from the traditional beach photos. :goodvibes

I recently took my sister's engagement photos at Poly. They turned out beautiful! We went all over that resort, we took pictures by the trees, hammocks, in the sand, everywhere. There is a spot called sunset point where a lot of weddings take place at Poly and in that spot, the castle is in the background. Wilderness lodge has a nature trail if you both like the outdoors. Anywhere you have them taken will be beautiful:goodvibes

Anywhere on Disney property will have beautiful backdrops. Just pick what theme you like best! Look at the main Disney website for all the different resorts (Coronado, Poly, AKL), and pick based on your personalities!! :goodvibes

How close to your weddings have you done your engagement pictures? The reason I"m asking is because I'm not from the area. So I had been thinking that if we go with the wishes wedding that maybe when we go down for our planning session we could get them done, but is that cutting it close?

It just depends on what you need to use them for and how long the photographer takes to turn them around. We took ours in Sept. for a Feb. wedding b/c that's when we had our planning session. Our photographer got them back in one week and we were able to use them for our engagement announcement and to make a photo guest book for the wedding. If you wanted to put them in your save-the-date you would need them much sooner than if you wanted to put them in your wedding invite.

Not to hijack this thread, but I was wondering if you can have an outside photographer to take pictures of you in one of the park, if you wear everyday clothes? I know they can not do it in wedding attire, but I was thinking everyday clothes may be different.

I would think not, but how would they catch you if it looks just like any other person, just with a nice camera...?? I just don't know if it is technically allowed or not...? :confused3 - maybe just frowned upon? hehe

My photographer told me that if we wanted pictures in the park that would be fine, we would just have to pay for a park ticket for them. I'm sure Disney does not encourage it, but people take pictures in the parks everyday, so they can't really tell you no. Now if you were in wedding atire, that would be completely different. We didn't want to do this option for our engagement photos because there would just be too many people around, I think it would be difficult to get good shots of just the two of you.

Disney's official policy is that outside professional photography is not allowed in the parks. Anyone who does it, does it at the risk of being escorted out of the park. When I contacted our photographers about doing an engagement session, they were up front that they would not/can not take pictures in the parks.
