Engadgement help! @ disneyland this dec.29th.

First time poster, long time disney addict, ive been with my girl for 3 1/2 years and i want to pop the question to her this dec. 29th we go to disneyland, we go every year on that day, and its very special too us, i have some ideas on what to do, but seeing as most of the posters here are disney guru's, id like to ask you all for help! also, do you know if i call in advance or work something out, if the disney staff will help in any way? playing a certain song threw some speakers at a certain time to set the mood, or doing something special in general?

I would go through the fairy tale wedding department, www.disneyweddings.com and try to call someone from their department.


My fiance proposed to me in Disneyland. He swears that he contacted someone a few weeks before hand, and wanted Stitch to come out when he popped the question (at the "Blue Bayou" restaurant by Pirates)... He had me distracted before we went into the restaurant, and he asked the people there about it, and they all said they didn't know anything about it. So he asked the question anyway, without any fanfare or anything. He's still mad about it. It did kind of suck. I told him "that wouldn't have happened at disneyworld" lol.
It was still a nice engagement, though that would have been cool. A trifle dissapointing. His advice is "keep following up on your plans" (he did, but back then they weren't as organized.. this was in 2002)

check out disneyland.go.com or their wedding site to inquire if they offer engagement packages disneyworld did in the past but has since discontinued the service but you never know if its still offered in CA. you could also look into giftsofalifetime.com which does special events.

one recommendation i have for your proposal is to get a picture as it happens or afterwards, its such a great memento. the blue bayou restaurant is nice if you want to propose during dinner as is the hook's pointe at the disneyland hotel & the napa room at the grand californian. infront of the castle is always romantic, during the fireworks or in the streetcar on mainstreet usa. check out the disneyland forum here on the dis too for suggestions.

I have some ideas and would like some feedback, or if possible maybe some of your comments , opinions, or ideas of your own!

Anywho, i looked at showtimes and whatnot, and thought of an idea, how about i buy my tickets in advance, i work for vons, so i can get my tickets through the mail for cheaper i think, if equal value thats fine, as long as i dont have to wait in lines, just get there and walk in, i treat her to a characters breakfast at disneyland hotel before the park opens. We spend our day there as usual, later on when the night comes, we see Remember, dreams come true, i saw how long it was and got a good idea how it is, and i can tell my girlfriend is going to love it, her eyes are going to light up with awe and wonder After that, if possible, this is where i need some info! details, and suggestions. i was hopeing after the fireworks, we can get reservations for balcony seats so we can eat dinner and watch fantasmic on that restuarant in front of the water. i forget which one it is, but for those who ate there, how is the view, is it private up there or are there many tables close by on the balcony, the more private the better imo.

Mainly the view is what id like to know, and what food do they serve, and how far in advance must i make reservations, and how expensive will it be, after fantasmic, i was thinking of popping the question there and then, asking her to marry me .

Feedback, info, and comments and ideas would be helpful, im stressing lol !! i need to start saving for this trip that will rip my wallet to shreds in under a 24 hr day!

But itll be worth it to spoil my angel with her ring, my love, ....and lots of eeyore

DH proposed to me waaay back before there were Fairy Tale weddings! He proposed at the wishing well on the side of the castle. Very romantic. Remember, the wishing well sings "I'm wishing for the one I love to find me someday."

as for this: i was hopeing after the fireworks, we can get reservations for balcony seats so we can eat dinner and watch fantasmic on that restuarant in front of the water. i forget which one it is, but for those who ate there, how is the view, is it private up there or are there many tables close by on the balcony, the more private the better imo.

--the only thing I can think of is the Disney gallery balcony where they serve dessert. There is a limited number of spaces and it's available day of at guest relations. If you work with the weddings dept, maybe they can guarantee you a sport without waiting until that day?

Ok tme to bump this thread, time is getting nearer and i need to get on the ball and know what im going to do. to those who have dined on the fantasmic balcony more than once, i know now that it isnt privite by any means, multiple people can be up there if they reserved seats, or just booked a seat for that day, but is there ever any times where only you and your company were there? as in no one took those seats? is it a widely known thing that people usually do, or is it kind of secret, something you wouldnt expect to be known to the public.

im also looking for a ring to give her...i cant find just the right one yet....im looking toward the 500 to 600$ range, im not that rich sadly, but she likes silver, so anything sparkly will satisfy her.

also, if its just the 2 of us dining, for lunch, will it be all that difficult to resquest seats near the water when we eat at the blue bayou? i hear the less people you have the more chance you have at getting near the water. anyone know if a extra couple of $ to the waiter or seater will help increase that chance? or all i have to do is go over there early and simply ask?

last question for now, can any of those 2 dining places, the balcony for fantasmic, and blue bayou, take reservations online or by phone? if so, how long or soon must they be taken by to insure that seats will be saved for dec. 29th?

thanks for your help and time. im just want this trip to be the best for my gf. its the 50th year, something that will never happen again, the last year of the holiday mansion, so i hear, and remember...dreams come true, these things are a one time thing, so this trip will be exceptional, one that i want her to always remember.

Since I am in the same boat of proposing around the same time you are (mine is going to take place @ WDW), I have been doing a lot of research. What I have found is that DL and WDW will do a lot more than you think to help you out. If you call DL ahead of time and let them know that you will be doing a proposal, they are very receptive to you. The last time I was at DL, we needed to make the reservation for the Blue Bayou while you were in the park. What I would recommend is making the reservation as soon as you enter the park. Then about 30 mins or so before your reservation, go back to the Bayou and tell them you would like to make a proposal by the water. They will make it happen, even if they give you some line of "they can't promise anything." (To do this when your GF is not around, there is a restroom very close by to the restaurant, just tell her you are going to look in the Pirates gift shop while she is busy). But don't be afraid to ask any disney rep for help, they are there to help you.

If FANTASMIC! is playing that night you could see about getting priority riverside seating (I'm assuming that the Disney Gallery balcony is already sold out) and at somepoint during the show you could pop the question, plus if you are there for the 1st showing you get to stay for the fireworks, another prosal oppertunity.

Then there's the holiday fireworks show where at the end it snows on Main Street.

A Blue Bayou riverside table is always nice.

If you like character interaction you could see if you could work something out with the charcaters at Goofy's Kitchen and have then be there for the proposal. ie: Minnie and Donald come bearing a gift

If you are looking for a nice dinner then there's the Napa Rose at the Grand Californian Hotel.

These are a few ideas. Sounds like you'll have a great trip!

I can't remember the timing to make priority seating but 30, 45, 60 days stands out in my mind. You could always try as you are probably not be at the reservation date yet (Minor brain lasps there). However if you can call be sure to start dialing before 7am pacific time when the lines open as they sell VERY fast.

If you are unable to get the balcony seating try for Riverside, you can still see the fire works if you are at the first seating. If you do the second then just check in early and go stake out a seat infront of the castle, then bust a move over to the ROA area so you don't lose your seats.

Are you planning on proposing at the roped off area of the castle? I've seen this done before the fireworks began. Very nice. They just asked the CM if the could be up close to the rope for a picture and it was then that the question as asked. Very cute.

Or if you are unable to get to the area of the castle that you want then there's always mainstreet with snow. I'm a sucker for this all snowy and x-mas music playing. I've seen it done here too.

We did it for our 6 month wedding anniversary and they limit the number of people to less than 20 (I believe). And at the time they based the seating on what number you were when you made your reservations. Which means I got the second set of reservations made so we were the second party to be sat (in front). However I've heard that somedays it's based on the order of check in. Anyways, the desserts included eclairs, cookies, cheesecake, chocolate covered strawberries, and cake amongst other sweets. The beverages included lemonade, water, coffee, hot cocoa, and possibly something else.
