I am renting a luxury car for my trip to WDW in September. I am an Emerald Club member, and when I made my reservation I was told that I could only choose between the Emerald Choice or counter. Could someone please explain what Emerald Choice is and if it differs from the Emerald Aisle. I have been reading these boards for a while and now that my trip is getting closer I would like all of my little concerns to be worked out. Thank you in advance.

Emerald Choice works very much like Emerald Aisle, except you are guaranteed a specific car class. You would bypass the counter with Emerald Choice, just like with Emerald Aisle and go right to the cars. However, instead of selecting a car from the Emerald Aisle, you would go right to the aisle where the luxury cars are, it will be marked, and select whichever luxury car you would like. Then you proceed to the checkout in the car and check out just like you would with a car from the Emerald Aisle. Very similar, except you are sure to get the car you reserved, and you still get to bypass the rental counter.

Thank you! All this and I have yet to actually use the Emerald Aisle service...!!! ;) ;)

Where do you get the keys for the car, is there someone out there at the lot? I keep hearing that you pick a car and drive to the checkout gate.

I guess I'll paste this response so DebbieB doesn't have to spell it out for people like me AGAIN... ha

DebbieB in another thread:
The procedure in Orlando is to go down to level 1 and go through the exit doors across from the National counter. Go across the street to the garage (there are lots of signs pointing the way). Once in the garage, look for the mini-van aisle (sizes are on the pillars). All the cars have the keys on the seat or in the ignition. Pick the one you want and drive to the exit booth. At the exit booth, give the attendant your license, EC card, the car identification card from the dashboard and any special coupons or discount cards. Your credit card # is on your EC profile, so no need to show it. The attendant will process it and off you go! Very efficient! On the return, just follow the signs to rental car return and then to National's area. The attendant will come up to your car and use a hand-held machine to scan the ID # from the car side window, you don't have to show anything. They process the receipt and hand it to you. If you have checked luggage and your airline has curbside check-in, we always check the luggage first before returning the car so that we don't have to lug it from the car over to the terminal. Then just circle back around to the car return exit. I've used National many times and highly recommend it, especially Emerald Club.
