I have went the week of Labor Day a couple of different years now and LOVED it. We were going to go that week this year but my company's golf tournament is the 8th & 9th and I CAN'T miss it. So how is the last week of August? It would be value season which is a must for us and it would be warm enough (HOT) to go to the water parks which is a must for the friends we are going with. How are the crowds? Can anyone compare those two weeks? Is there anything that last week of August we would want to avoid? I would be looking at 8/28 - 9/3. The best part is that financially we HAVE to drive this trip and the extra day would be great.

Thanks!
Amanda

I would love to hear this information too. We are booked for August 28th- September 4th!

We were down there from August 29 - Sept. 7 this past year. We were at Universal form August 25 - 29. We were supposed to come home on the 3rd (Friday before Labor Day), but got "stuck" there due to Hurricaine Frances. Frances did not hit until Sunday, but they were originally predicting Saturday, and had did not want to get stuck with planes in Orlando (learned this from hurricaine Charley a few weeks earlier), so they very early started cancelling all the flights. Other than the extended trip and ordeal getting home, the parks are not too crowded, it is hot, but that does not bother us too much. The parks are on more limited hours at this time of year. We went the same time 2 years ago, and do plan on going that time of year every other year. I have three in school, and we usually start after Labor Day, so we feel it is the best time for us to go. We would rather take the heat and deal with smaller crowds. Hope this helps.

What were your wait times that week? Were there any big ones? We'll be going with DD who will be 22 months and my friends who will have their 25 month old DD. I know it will be hot - but hot AND waits of any really extended length would be bad. Short lines - and hot I can handle. Even with short hours we'll take breaks and spend some time at the waterparks. Thanks!

We were there the last week of Aug in 2003, and had no problems at all. Crowds were way down, and need for fastpass was minimal. We were there with our DDs (4 1/2yrs and 22 months at the time), so we avoided a lot of the major thrill rides but still managed to walk on Splash, TOT and Dinosaur, all of which DD4 loved.

ETA...it was hot and humid, but being from New Orleans at the time, the humidity was actually lower at WDW!! Now that we live in AZ, humdity will kill us! LOL

I thought I read somewhere that that week was not value season??? I originally wanted to book that week. I think I saw it in one of the 2004 planning books?

That week is definitely Value season for Deluxe resorts... not sure about Values and such.

Last week of August 2004 was wonderful crowd-wise... mornings are especially great for just walking onto attractions. The biggest crowds we encountered our week were at Typhoon Lagoon so if you're into water parks, I would suggest getting there very early, especially if you want to do a lot of slides (we arrived around 10:15 and by 11 the lines for most slides were upwards of 20 min, then longer)...

We have also gone the last week of August. While the parks were not slow, the crowds were very managable and we did find using FP helped a lot.

The only issue is that it is very hot and often rains in the afternoon. Also, the park hours start to be cut back that time.

Value season for value and moderate resorts starts right around the end of August (I believe August 28 for 2005). Value season for deluxe resorts starts in July.

Thanks for all of the information!
:sunny: We will plan for heat!
:umbrella: We will plan for afternoon rain!
:earsboy: We will plan for mornings at the park with use of FP!
::MickeyMo We will plan for the water parks to be crowded by 11am!
:grouphug: We will plan for definite afternoon breaks!
:Pinkbounc Lastly, we will plan for a bunch of Disney fun in the sun!

Isn't that "love-Bug" season too...we went once then and it was gross - those little "2headed" bugs were everywhere.

Never saw those "love bugs" in either of our end of August trips.
