End of April or End of June?

Hi.
I'm trying to decide on when to go to WDW this year. We can go the 22-28 of April or about the same time in June. If we go in April my dd will miss 3 days of school. She is in the 1st grade and is doing very well. The absenses won't be detrimental to her academics. But I wonder if just the pressure of missing school would put a damper on the trip. I know the weather is usually great in April and perhaps the crowds will be lower in April than June. I was wondering if the fact that the June time is before July 4th what the effects of the crowds would be. Help anyone!!!! I just want to decide and go:confused:

Thanks for any input.:D

Jen

PS. I just thought I'd ask if anyone knows the best time in June to go? The first part or the last?

I would go anytime other than June July and August. Been there, done that, never again. April is wonderful to go... its a little cooler than the middle of the summer, and the crowds are a little better.

As far as her missing school, each parent has to make their own decision. I was raised by parents that believed we only have one life to live and life experiences with our family were priority one and never batted an eye at taking us out for a once in a lifetime family vacation. Note, we rarely took long vacations, so this only happened every few years... But they also never fretted about taking us out for a mini-trip either if we were doing well in school. We never were stressed about missing on our vacations =) I personally wouldn't let 3 days stop me, but only you are her parent =)

Either way, you'll have a GREAT time!!!!!!!!!!!

If it was me I'd go in April.June get terribley hot and humid plus the afternoon thunder showers start rolling in.The crowds will also be less at that time in April. The end of June starts getting really crowded.

Don't go into your vacation worrying about your DD missing 3 days of school in first grade.Talk with the teacher, keep her informed of when DD will be gone.See if DD will have any make up work or miss a test.

This can be a learning trip too.Get a Passport at Epcot for DD to meet and talk with people from all over the world. Here's a link to a say Hello In Epcot thread your DD can pratice before your trip.Educational yet fun! :) http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=504754

Here's another link to some printable Disney activities that can help your child learn with Disney!

Have a magical trip!!!

Thanks Baloo and Aimee......

I'm not too worried about the missing school. I'm a teacher too and my dd is way advanced. She could miss the rest of the year and still be on track for second grade. There is one problem I didn't mention, she has already missed 21 days this year due to illness. There are doctors notes for the entire absence but I am actually afraid to approach her teacher due to the fact she has missed so much already. I really want to go in April. It just feels right. I've been in May and in July. I guess being from south Texas it is hot here too so we are used to it. So do ya'll think the Easter crowds will be over around the 22 of April? Thanks for any more input.

Also, it would more than likely be my dd and me alone on this trip. My dh is too tired of wdw. Go figure?

As much as I love going to WDW, we have always put school before Disney. We figure Disney can be enjoyed anytime, but school is on a set schedule.

We did WDW last year from April 26 - May 3 (this was the Saturday following Easter) and the crowds and weather were GREAT! Seems the big Easter crowds were pretty much cleared out by the time we got there to start our week of fun. With Easter being even earlier this year, I say go for April definitely. Hope you have a wonderful time whatever you decide!

Go in April. We went 2 yrs ago and the weather was awesome and my DH and BILs hate hot weather and they enjoyed themselves. Going the same time this year. Same with the crowds we hardly had to wait in any lines for more than 20-30 min depending on the ride. As for school, I agree with the others, especially where she is only in 1st grade. Take a look at the link that was given above, there should be one for a Daily Trip Diary you can print out & your DD can fill it out everyday & then she can share her travel experience with her class when she gets back.
Enjoy whenever you go!! Take Care.:wave2:

Thanks ya'll for the help! I just saw on the Southwest air website that airfare went down to $79 each way. With taxes and fees that turns into $180.80 round trip per person. I just can't wait. I think I'll talk to dh tonite and see if we can do April. Looking at the 21-28th. Thanks again!:sunny:

We are going to Disney for the first time the last week of April/first week of May. If it makes you feel any better, I really was anxious approaching my daughter's first grade teacher about taking her out for two whole weeks, and she was more than fine about it. I had tons of ideas to make the trip educational, and honestly she told me to relax and just have my daughter keep a daily journal. I know all teachers are different, so good luck with yours. See you there!
