Why can't his name be printed here? I'm just curious!
Did you try it?

Do you think its because the DIS does not own the rights to his character?

Um how do I put this delicately? His name is synonymous with a slang term used to describe part of the male anatomy.
Nope.
That's not the problematic name.
What about all the Pirates stuff? They have used the images of Johnny et al. . . on EVERYTHING, and Capt. Jack is out all the time and he and Barbosa are in the ride. Of course, that franchise is WILDLY popular, so maybe Disney was just willing to pay Johnny, Jeffery, Orlando, and Kiera whatever it took because it was worth it?
If the rights to use her likeness were an issue, then I would assume Prince Caspian wouldn't be out and about. Clearly the character in the parks is based off of what Ben Barnes looks like, so I don't get why Amy Adams' Giselle wouldn't be allowed but Ben Barnes' Prince Caspian is. Of course, Caspian isn't a Disney-created character though, so maybe that would be the difference. Just seems unlikely to me that they wouldn't be allowed to portray the character as they see fit due to licensing issues. Doesn't make sense to me.
Either way, it's just a shame she's nowhere to be found in the parks. She's a fun character.

The character Giselle is owned by Disney.
Amy Adams was cast to play the character in the film.
Someone else can be cast to play the part at the parks.
According to one of the sources on Wikipedia, a page out of the New York Times, Disney tried to get away with not paying Adams any royalties by saying that there was enough difference in her appearance and the animated character that they wouldn't need to pay her royalties for her image. The section ends with "Negotiations have begun with Adams' lawyers and Disney Representatives."
No link to the article is given, and no date is listed other than "2008." I searched the NY Times site for articles as far back as a year ago, and I searched the internet as a whole for this article, and I couldn't find it. Nowhere. I'm not saying that it never existed, but I find it odd that it's not referenced anywhere, not even on the Disney fan sites that archive virtually every news article ever released about Disney."Disney Princess vs Disney Controversy", page 46. The New York Times, 2008
What about Jonny Depp? Isn't it the same kind of thing? It seems to be if they can do a Jonny Depp look-alike they can find Amy Adams right??
But what about the costumes at least? My DD is really hoping to be Giselle for Halloween. The only place I've found them is a distributor in the UK and they don't ship to the US. Luckily for me there's the DISboutique! :
