Enchanted Tiki Room

Just heard several rumors about the tiki room, was hoping to confirm.......

These was a fire there at some point?

The "under new management" theme was removed, and the original tiki room theme was restored?

Is it currently open or closed for refurb?

I presume you are asking about the Tiki Room at WDW. There was a fire in the attic area of that attraction in January 2011 during the "Under New Management" show theme. It reopened in September 2011 basically restored back to the original show. The last refurb was to the exterior in 2014. I remember as it was going on during one of our visits. The attraction remained open during that refurb, at least while I was there in June/July 2014.

The Tiki Room is currently open and running the classic show. I enjoyed it myself last week.

2. Basically. I believe there was some tweaking done to the original show.

Yes - when they removed the "under new management" they got rid of the parts with Iago aka Gilbert Godfried - omg it was awful with him. The original is so much better

Oh wow, this is good to know! I love this show. The last time we were there in December of 2013, I'm pretty sure Iago and was there.

They didn't restore the fountain. At least, I believe there was a fountain in the middle below the bird mobile. It would come up from the center podium. However, I know there's a fountain in Disneyland, and I may be confusing the two.

Iago was already gone by that point. As @RainbowCrow stated, it was mostly restored to original in 2011.

I have two small kids who love the Tiki Room (just like their parents). They've memorized the tiki song and occasionally belt it out full volume from the back seat of the car. Makes me smile every time.

I think the shows run about every 15-20 minutes. There is not set show schedule as far as I know. Just "start the show rolling" as quickly as they can get people in and seated.

One of my favorites. The "under new management" was a disaster. I have pics from 1972 outside the tiki room with the tiki statues. I have never missed a show on any trip since. Next trip in 17 days!!

One song was removed from the original show to shorten it. This change had previously been done at Disneyland, so both coasts have the same basic show, not counting the preshow.

Yes, there used to be a water fountain just like at DL, replaced with a mist jet when MK brought the old show back. The audience participation portion was also removed from the "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing" number. Other than those two items and a volcano added to the rainstorm "outside" the windows during the finale, it's identical to the DL show.

Yes, the Barcarolle number was removed on both coasts. You can find it on Youtube. Other edits have happened over the years as well.

Under New Management was terrible. I was so glad they returned it to the original show. They need to start letting you bring in your Dole Whip like Disneyland though. Disneyland Tiki Room wins just because of that.
