EMU vs UGGS

What are the differences between the two? Macy's has some Emu boots on sale, are they less quality than Uggs? They are certainly cheaper....

Emu are the same quality as Uggs, just not as well known. I remember reading that the two companies used to be linked somehow but ended up becoming two separate companies. DD has two pairs of Emus and I like them better than my Uggs. For kids, the Emus seem better as the soles are thicker and there is less chance of the suede getting wet or dirty in snow. If you have a Macys nearby, go check them out, but if not, the only reason I would get Uggs is if you want the more well known brand.

Emu has better arch support. Occasionally, you can find really awesome deals on Emus on Amazon. The Stinger is "higher end" than Bronte. I got my Emu Stinger Hi boots there last year for about $40 when usually they are $150+

My daughter and I both have EMUs that I bought last winter and they are still going strong. I bought mine on sale at Macy's for $38 during the F&F sale last December. My daughter's was from piperlime.com for around the same price.

for $39. good deal. they seem a little big...but super soft. I had 2 pairs of bearpaws I bought last year for a similar deal and couldn't find any this year so got these. They're nice. I have a pair of uggs for my niece [she's a brand snob]. the difference so far is the black uggs and black and brown bearpaws the fur matches the color of the boot whereas the grey emus that i have don't the fur is cream and the fur feels softer in the uggs and bp, the emus is more fluffy like lambswool.

my daughter may end up with them bummer. :O)

Make sure you get an authorize seller because just like with Uggs there are a lot of fakes out there. Stay away from Amazon and ebay for sure.

I like 6pm.com for emu, hey seems to have good deals from time to time. I got dd chocolate jasmine boots for less than $50 around black Friday.

My DD's don't ask for UGGS, but last year I bought them EMU's and they seem to like them. These seem to do the trick while they are young and not into brands of boots. I agree that you need to have an authorized dealer for those as well.

I want to get DD8 a pair of black EMU's.

I love my Emus. This is year 3 for them and they look pretty close to brand new.

I have both and they are equal quality, in my opinion. I wear the Emus more. They are really comfy, and I'm not as afraid of ruining them. I have worn them in the rain and snow and will probably get them cleaned this year, but they've worn well.

I don't have any experience with Uggs, but I did buy a pair of Emu's last week when Endless had them on sale for $39.50. Ok, so I bought three pair.. one black, one gray and one camel. I LOVE them. They are so comfortable and look very well made. I am very happy with them.

Yes some of the Emu boots are lesser quality. The Bronte are more comparable to Bear paws.

There are higher end ones (Stinger) that are comprable to the UGGS. The stingers actually have arch support which I don't believe the UGGS do. (Could be wrong but DD's Bailey buttons have NO arch support)

I just tried DD new Baily buttons on and they are COZY! (and they fit me!)
Best tip when looking for the UGG boots that DD insisted on was to buy the kids size 6 boots because the fit the same as an adult 8!! That saved a lot of money. I think I might want a pair now, the Baily Buttons are so cute!! (oh and my normal size is an 8 1/2, 9)

i have the emu (stinger) boots and also a pair from sams club (not sure of the neme) i actually like the ones from sams club better even though they are both great. whatever you buy make sure they are made of sheepskin inside this is what makes them warm and soft. (i think some of the emu are not made of sheepskin.)

Do the Ugg kids' 6's fit the same as an Ugg 8, or as a "standard" women's 8? I'm a 9 1/2 (sometimes 9, sometimes 10 depending on the shoe), but I take an 8 in Uggs...

I've never tried the Ugg boots in the adults so I'm not sure on that. The Emu boots I have are an adult size 8 but that is the closest I can relate on that. I can also tell you I tried on the kids short Uggs in the kids size 6 at the mall and they were snugger than I would be comfortable purchasing but the Baily Button shorts fit just fine.

If in doubt stop by Journey Kidz in the mall and try some on to see.

I ordered 39.50 Emu's from endless.com last week. They didn't have great arch support, IMO and the lining is merino wool, not real fleece. I have fleece Ugg slippers and they are great. The merino wool feels different in a way I don't like.

Basically, I think you need to check both out and see what you like.
