Empty box from Amazon.com [Updated]

I just received my order from Amazon.com. It was a sealed box supposedly containing the dream life plug in tv game but when I opened the box it had only bubble wrap and the packing slip but no game. The box does not look tampered with and I took it in as soon as the UPS guy dropped it but its empty. I emailed amazon but could not find a phone number. Anyne else had this happen to them!!! I am paniciking!! I paid over 30$ for the game. Does any1 have a phone number for Amazon?

What should I do??

First, go to the Amazon site and look up your order- somewhere there is a place where you can dispute the order. It's called an A to Z guarenty.

You can also call them at 1-800-201-7575. Make sure you have the order number when you call them. Also check to see if it was Amazon who shipped it or one of the vendors that is on the site. If it is a vendor, check the information page on them and look for a phone number to call them direct.

Hope this helps. I work for a company that is a vendor on Amazon. I can't do anything to help officially since it wasn't shipped by us but if you need advise, let me know!

Hi! I looked too, but it only gave the email option...

I'm feeling your pain...Booksamillion sent my $100 to an address I haven't ordered from in several years. I tried calling them and basically they're trying to get UPS to retrieve the packages from the people, but otherwise it's too bad for me they say. They say nothing can be done since my order was delivered to an old address THEIR computer pulled our of the air.

This recently happened to me. I ordered a book and rec'd the media mail envelope completely empty. The top flap was taped but not the bottom and it arrived with the bottom flap opened and empty (except for the invoice) I contacted the seller twice by e-mail and it didn't work because Amazon had the wrong e-mail address for them. Amazon gave me a full refund when I complained, so all was well. My dtr. had a problem with a book not being rec'd by the date promised (for college) and they gave her an immediate refund. I think they'll take care of it quickly. Good luck. :sunny:

I have had order mistakes from Amazon and they have ALWAYS been more than helpful. Don't panic...yet.*is is out of stock :guilty: that could be a problem*Email them- you will get a quick response as well as call. Good luck
 
I ordered this same game through Amazon also. No problems for me but I really hope everything gets fixed for you. I understand how you must feel stressed about it, I would too. Good Luck. Let us know how everything works out. :grouphug:

I received a empty box from QVC yesterday...... :confused3
I called CS and charge was taken off my account......no questions asked. :banana:

How does a company ship out an empty box?
 
I have been a very happy Amazon customer for ten years. But this Christmas season I have had more problems than ever with their deliveries. I didnt' get any empty boxes, but I did get double shipment of some things and other things not delivered even though the website said that they had been.

The good news is that Amazon has excellent customer service. There is no need to use the telephone. Follow the links on your email from them to review your order and you will be shown how to make a complaint. Amazon has always corrected any problems for me very quickly!
 
Amazon.com more than enough resolved my problem. They gave me a full refund as well waived shipping [upgraded to 2 days] on the second item I ordered as the item I initially ordered was out of stock.

PS: Do you think the item going out of stock had any connection to my getting an empty box?? Just a thought
 
WooHoo - I know you are happy with the results. I had posted that I lost $100 in a Booksamillion order...they came through as well! They attempted to get UPS to get the packages back three times with no response (we're guessing UPS didn't respond, not the people with my stuff). Anyway today they credited my account back and let me re-place the order and it's on it's way free shipping! I have always shopped Amazon and now I'll be splitting my shopping between the two. It's so nice to see companies stepping up to set things right. :flower:
 
I am so glad it worked out....

Last year I placed an order through QVC for my grandmother for a Cuckoo clock. It was a gift to my aunt form her.

When she got it and opened it it was some type of wicker basket :earseek: Not the $200 Cuckoo Clock she ordered.

QVC was great about it and sent out the right item and even told her to keep the basket.
 
What causes empty boxes and wicker baskets to arrive?

In an earlier lifetime (pre-MK, pre-Toys-R-Us, when there was just one or maybe two Wal-Marts) my first job was in a department store. Close to Christmas we ran out of fire engines and my supervisor instructed me to fill a mail order for one with a dump truck. After Christmas I did observe (as well as was instructed to restock) several of the dump trucks behind the returns counter although did not have a chance to examine the paperwork and paper trail.

I am thrilled in this day and age of declining customer service that Amazon handled this so well. Kudos to them!! They have gained a customer here due to your story. Thanks for sharing the update. I think sometimes we remember to complain when there is a problem but forget to praise when things go so well.
 
Glad to hear it worked out, although I thought it would. I've had some problems with shipments from Amazon as well and their customer service always makes things right.

An empty box...well that reminds me of the time I went to a McDonalds drive through, took my order from the window and didn't check it. When I arrived home, all hungry and ready to eat my nice little grease burger, I pulled out from the box a hamburger that was half eaten! I mean, it had teeth marks! I was horrified! I called the McDonalds and they were quite apologetic. The manager drove right oiver to my house with a new meal, refunded my money, and gave me $50 of McDonald certificates. Guess they didn't want a lawsuit! All I wanted was my hamburger, without sharing it! Guess I'm just selfish like that! Well, what's worse, an empty box, or a shared box? Whatever.................
